    IMO Leonard is in the same mold as SRR, Charles, Gans, Duran when it comes to him as a fighter as the complete package. Mayweather isn´t.

    I need to watch more of Charles to see if I agree with your comparsion to Leonard. I do agree with your Moore/Mayweather comparsion.
    I have allways thought Charles to be a speed guy more than a classic boxer more Roy Jones than Pernell Whitaker. From everything I have read about Leonard (I have read a lot of online articals and Nat Fleischer's bio "Leonard The Magnificent"). I am lead to belive that Leonard was more Whitaker than Jones. I'm not sure who at light heavyweight = Whitaker/Leonard. The best I can come up with is Harold Johnson who had as good of a mastery of good old fashion boxing skills as any one ever has.
    If the comparsion is Charles/Moore than the pick has to be Leonard. Charles took 3 out of 3 of there fights. However if the comparsion is Johnson/Moore than the pick is Mayweather. As Moore took 4 of 5 fights.

    Lacks imagination, the ability to adapt during a fight, his defence is quite one-dimensional and relys too much on his speed IMO. See, the Judah and Castillo (I) fights for evidence.

    The ability to adapt is his fortay. As for being one-dimensional there are guys who can domanate a sport without much of a repertoire. Baseball Pitcher Sandy Koufax comes to mind. He really only had two pitches a fastball and curveball. He also had a bad habit of standing one way before a fastball and another before a curveball. Basicaly the batter knew what pitch was coming. It did not matter. Koufax was that good. Mayweather is in that mold.

    Not during a fight, see the Judah and Castillo fight for evidence.

    Sure you can be successful while beeing one-dimensional, see Henry Armstrong or Harry Greb. However, Mayweather simply isn´t in that class, there is too much to exploit and he is missing the mentallity.

    I re watched Judah/Mayweather about 2 weeks ago. I have to disagree with you on this one. On the grounds that he had to come from behind slightly to win.

    I've seen some Leonard footage and he's clearly not the guy who could survive in the ring against the elite level today. He was great for his era, fought in an extremely strong era stacked with talent, but he can't hold a candle to Floyd.

    Floyd stops him. TKO5. The referee halts it due to Leonard being completely overwhelmed by Floyd with a cauliflower ear and one eye swollen shut. Loses every round.

    B, Harry Greb was so successful, because he was 3-dimensional in the ring.
    1= tremendously fast hands shooting volleys,and barrages, non-stop.
    2= defensively he was described as having rubber feet, bouncing on his toes all over the ring,never being in the same spot for more than half a second ,as Gene Tunney put it.Almost impossible to time and tag.
    3= Unrivaled stamina, who could go all out for 15 rounds,never tiring and
    never slowing down. So b,Greb was truly a 3 dimensional fighter...Cheers.

    Floyd. There's nothing in the Tendler footage that leads me to believe Leonard pulls this off.

    What Leonard footage have you seen besides the Lew Tendler and Jimmy McLarnin bouts? Tendler was as good as the come and a southpaw, which in thos days were more rare than today. That footage was from their first bout the rematch was not as compitive. The McLarnin bout was the last of Leonard's career during a comeback made seven years after he retired.

    Tendler was an outstanding boxer himself. It's too bad that this is as far as I know the only known footage of Leonard in his prime.
