Tyson was 19 years old and 10 months pro. Wlad was 21 years old and 15 months pro. Vitali was 26 years old and 16 months pro. All were fighting better opposition at a faster rate. Shitty comparison is shitty.
closest comparison i could find of 2 Olympians that got a medal with not much amateur experience....to turn pro and take 100% different paths.... ray mercer wasnt "ray mercer" in his 12th fight fighting a former world title challenger...seems no one even does that at any point now...look at arreolas garbage fights hes strung together recently they simply believed in their fighter (mercer) and wasnt afraid to let him fight...obvioulsy wilders team dont believe much in him...
That's the pic I was waiting for. I like Wilder, but he's exactly that, WILD. I don't see enough discipline in him. He's one of those guys that may surprise with his big punch and win a few upsets, but I doubt he takes out the elite. Matchmaking is the name of the game. If you've got a shitty fighter, pit him against another shitty fighter and you may end up with evenly matched guys who go to war. Brian Scott vs Courage Tshabalala was a great example of this. Old journeyman got a big KO vs an up-and-comer.

And Vitali fought Levi Billups I think they're quite comparable actually. Deontay Wilder is 25, and has been prom for under 3 years,I really dont see this,as that big of a deal.
in order to develop , you have to at least fight guys who dont crumble with the first glancing blow they are hit with.....opponents like this dont help....tyson fought guys like this, but was 18,19 years old and did it within a 12 month period had like 19 fights....
Maybe his movement in terms of opposition in the pros is is being matched to Vitali Klistschko who according to boxrec.com was fighting near similar opposition at age 27 (Wilder is 25 I believe) and Vitali turned out just fine. Would I like to see him fight better opposition? sure but maybe they are doing research on what made Vitali so successful by not rushing him like most management and promoters do with young fighters. Just a thought
Not a big deal. He needs time to develope and this fights are just there to have goals in his training.
I think they're doing a good job with him. If you watch him, you'll see the inexperience and lack of grown man strength. What's the point of stepping him up when obviously he's not ready? I like the patience being employed, and if he needs another two years of guys like this, so be it. As long as he's beginning to climb the ladder by 27 or 28, he's fine.
