This is inspired by discussions in another thread. One argues that Floyd is primarily a defensive fighter with limited offense while another argues that Floyd is also an offensive fighter. So how do you rank Floyd's offensive skills and his range of offensive arsenal? Does he have the offensive skills to make opponents cover up and run for their life? Or is he a defensive fighter that only occasionally throws an offense or two?
He's proven that he's got a great offensive arsenal. On his way up the junior-lightweight ranks, he was an offensive power puncher. He's shown the ability to fight offensively against Mosley, Zab, Corley, Mitchell, etc. He's not quite Manny Pacquiao, but he's got great offensive capabilities. (definitely not limited)
I voted 9.... **** you could technically say he is a 10.. he is way more versataile than manny... manny is just better than him at one thing....kind of like how kobe is overall better than lebron but lebron is a better dunker
7. He seldom throws combinations. Any great offensive fighter regularly lets his hands go. If we are talking about a "what if" scenario of how good he could be if he let his hands go, he would probably get a 9 but as it stands, it say a 7.
9... doesn't waste alot of energy by throwing unecessary punches... but when he does throw, usually he's on the mark with near perfect timing, distance, punching form....his KO ratio would be higher if he would commit/sit more on his punches...but he might have some losses if he did so.... no need to fix something that isn't broken.
Clottey ain't a 1. One would be someone like Malignaggi. People saying Floyd could be a 9 if he wanted to don't realise that that **** goes both ways. An offensive fighter can be better defensively if he is less agressive.
Throws every punch in the book with great speed and accuracy master at distance also doesn't leave himself out of position or off balanced when throwing. I'd say 8 his only weakness is his workrate he has enough pop to keep his opponents honest.
Why isnt there a negative say -1 or -5 option ? we are talking about Floyd Chicken Heart Mayweather here.
You just cannot put Floyd's name in a sentence with "Offense" so I voted 4. Offense means Attack. Floyd hardly ever attacks. :deal
You need to factor in the number of shots Floyd throws and connect. You cannot consider Kobe or LeBron an offensive fighter if they shoot below the average and scores less than 10 points a game. This same logic applies with floyd if his number of shots thrown and connected is well below the average.
