The recent Johnson fight makes me believe that 94-95 collins can take this one

Collins on points in a classic for the ages

The standard of opposition Collins fought was Brazil 1970, Barcelona 2010 standard.

McCallum and Reggie Johnson at their peak in America, Kalambay in his backyard, Eubank after the Wharton fight.

He landed lots of rights on McCallum after giving away the first five, while a raw novice, and clearly beat Reggie, who was as slick as a greaseball back then and had clearly beat Toney, and outworked defensive masters Sumbu and Eubank.

He also took Benn's biggest bombs.

Froch has fought a jab-less, rythm-less Pascal, a shot blown-up Taylor, a flat-footed one-dimensional midget in Abraham, and a 40-something year old Johnson. Oh and Dirrell and Kessler, who both beat him.

So right there, there's a big gulf.

I do feel, however, that Froch's height, reach and lean-back style would cause Collins problems.

Froch on points clearly. Johnson beat Collins . Mccallum beat Collins. Benn was past it when he fought collins. Collins got a good win against eubank, surviving being badly hurt. It would be a huge war. But froch has more tools . A better jab. Toughness to match

Can we really put Froch in the bracket of a '92 Reggie Johnson, who used to get the better of Roy Jones in sparring every day? (I thought Collins took that fight)

    No way.

Froch for me. Collins out toughed a lot of fighters but he wouldn't do that to Froch.

Froch would dictate behind his jab

He sparred one or two rounds against Roy and then Roy said he didnt want to fight him because he could be a future opponent. Roy never sparred him for any extended period of time. Go to 0:50 seconds of the video:good

Some posters no doubt are going to say collins was a 90's abrham. but he was a much better boxer than abrham and had a better defence is well as more height
