I c it like this at the lower weights he fought more off/minded cause he could get away with it he moved up in weight and modifide his styel acordingly end of story
I challenge you to research the facts behind that fight, Chico was drained for that fight... Everybody knows that. Chico had planned to move up in weight as he was finding it hard to make 130, He got the call from Mayweather for the fight and his weight issues showed, but so did his domestic violence issues that were going on at the same time. prior to the fight you could hear chico talk about what he needed to do to keep that weight off, he was eating like half a sandwhich per day and a plum for the week leading up to the weigh in.... and this fight was not an offensive display it was 99% counter punching and Floyd boxing drawing Chico in... so as far as offensive abilities wrong they were based off of defensive movement in the ring.
Yes, that was awesome. Just rewatched that one the other day, and couldn't help to be in awe in the variety of attacks used and speed with which he delivered them. the one stood out the most was he'd crack Gatti to the head, then come with a right to the body, and by the time Gatti could say ouch from that one he got a straight right to the head too. Was ****in' unreal, along with his turning Gatti to keep himself in position to just blaze on Gatti...(RIP Gatti).
It will be easy for someone to just say, "Oh, it was just Gatti" And maybe there's a little truth to that, but Floyd took the fight to gatti and looked pretty incredible at the same time. :deal
Really? I mean Manfredy even has a win over Gatti, so does Mickey Ward.. why is Floyds performance so special? Oscars performance was much much more brutal than Floyds... the only reason Floyd turned it on in that fight was due to the fact that he snuck in a cheap shot as Gatti was listening to the ref.. from there he turned it on cus Gatti was hurt, had Gatti not been hurt by that we would have likely got that saftey first approach until Gatti was visably ready to go.
Chico won a title at 130 AFTER his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr 3 years later. Just FYI, your point about weight is pretty bogus.
you are correct, but his fight after that was at what weight? and its not me I aint just throwing this **** out there, on the broadcast he was talking about how hard it was for him to make the weight.. But you are 100% correct and I also beleived that Chico had switched trainers and got himself a better camp to work with that helped him manage that weight.
I miss PBF. not too fond of money's style. The irony i think is that floyd sr focuses on defense but he made floyd fight aggressively, but roger a natural boxer puncher makes floyd fight in counter punch. He needs to go back with his dad bc i see lots of decline.
That's on Chico and his training habits. He made weight 3 years after the fact. Blame Chico for not training hard. Being "weight drained" implies he "couldn't make weight without starving himself" which is completely untrue based on his professional record.
I noticed floyd fight much more aggressive against people who talk **** about him. Chico calls him a father beater and Gatti calls him a women beater and they both got a embrassing beating. I don't think Gatti landed a single punch.
I agree, but might add the size of his opponents coming at him could have played a part too. Or combination of both...i.e..with brittle hands can't keep the larger guys off as easily.
He landed a body shot...a weak one...that was it. I remember saying the same thing. "DID HE EVEN LAND A ****ING PUNCH?!:verysad"...then a few seconds later...boom...body shot...nothing....continued punishment.
