Nobody's mad at Floyd, and I do recognize that its a smart business move in order to maximize buys. The thing is, if Floyd is huge draw that both he and his diehard fans claim he is, then shouldnt he do 1mil+ buys regardless of who he fights?

No. If that were the case, then there would be no huge draws in boxing. However, the fact that he's doing 1M+ buys against guys who aren't even big draws says a lot about his drawing power.

So do you see him doing 1mil+ against a guy like Berto had Berto not lost to Ortiz?

Yes, he could've done 1M+ against Berto. Berto is young, and would've been an undefeated champion had he beat Ortiz. He's also been on HBO several times.

He's been playing off the popularity of other fighters for years. He's a businessman now.

Floyd/Oscar does 2.4mil buys and Floyd claims it was his doing alone. In his very next fight against Hatton, he has does 800-850k. Big drop in buys there. Shouldnt he had at least done 1.2mil+ if what he claim is the 2.4mil was his doing alone against Oscar?

You have to remember that ppv sales primarily come from casual fans. Does the casual boxing fan walking down the street even know who Andre Berto is?

Mosley was never a big ppv draw alone, but he was well known amongst casual fans worldwide due to both his high profile fights with Oscar.

They don't know who Marquez and Ortiz are either. The fact of the matter is, Mayweather has built up a large ppv base for himself. He's going to do pretty well no matter what. If he's got an opponent that can be sold to the public, that's when you start seeing those 7 figure ppv buy numbers. And the opponent doesn't have to be well known in order to be sellable to the public. No one outside of GBP thought the fight with Marquez would break 1M buys.

Obviously he didn't do 2.4M all by himself, that's just Mayweather talking ****. On the other hand, Oscar didn't do 2.4M by himself either.
