I remember watching a HBO special a few years ago where Evander claimed that if not for the fan-man, he would have knocked Bowe out. Ofcourse, he always made claims like this. After all, he never lost a fight where he wasn't ill. I always saw it differently. An overweight Bowe took several rounds to get going before he was able to get his jab pumping. Evander seemed tired before the interruption. I always felt that if not for the interruption, Bowe would have won all three fights...Thoughts?

I think it hurt both and kind of killed the fight.

Holyfield was in rhythm and boxing very, very well. He was solidly ahead at that point, had Bowe hurt twice, and looked the inevitable winner.

Fan Man broke his stride, his rhythm, and likely jarred his focus and composure. He never did get it back.

Bowe however had finally gotten on track in the 7th. He was warmed up a bit, and had found something with the jab.

His focus, and his warmth and stride, was also broken.

The remainder of the fight was much sloppier than the first half. Had the break not happened, I tend to think Holyfield would have won even clearer: He was dialed in, and outfighting Bowe, and frustrating him from distance with angles and pivots. Two minutes is not enough to divine whether or not the fight had turned, even if Riddick was having a good round.

If pressed, I'd say Bowe was helped, as it knocked the guy winning the fight out of his form. But really, both of them lost something from that interruption and the shockwaves it sent.

I thought Bowe was coming on in that round. It gave Holyfield a chance to rest.

People always say Holy easily outboxed Bowe in the second fight. BS, the fight was razor close and could have easily been a draw. Holyfield boxed a better fight, but it didnt expose Bowe as being a poor boxer like so many claim. Both guys showed a lot of skill in that fight.

Nah, Holyfield starting cramping during the break... so I think the break helped Bowe more. Holyfield had the momentum before Fan Man showed up. I was actually surprised by the scorecards... I thought it was a clear win for Holyfield.

Sure, Bowe was a little heavy... he came in a little overconfident but the same could be said for holyfield in their first fight. If Holyfield fought like this in their first fight he would have won IMO.

What happened to Fan Man anyway?

I don't remember hearing from him again. Did he make it out alive?

    From wiki...

Miller's first and most famous stunt happened on November 6, 1993 during the heavyweight title fight between Riddick Bowe and Evander Holyfield. Miller descended into the second minute of the seventh round of the fight, after circling Caesar’s Palace for 10 minutes. The lines of his paraglider became tangled in the overhead lights. He landed on the top rope of the ring with his parachute still tangled in the lights. He tried to hang on with one foot and one hand on that top rope for a few seconds until he either fell or was dragged down into the crowd by spectators, his parachute ripping away from the lights above.

"It was a heavyweight fight," Miller would joke later, "and I was the only guy who got knocked out."

Well I feel a bit silly being a bit flippant about his welfare

    Anyway R.I.P Fan Man.

You weren't with us for a long time but 18 years later and you're still in our collective thoughts here on ESB.

    :lol::rofl

That 'shoop is very flawed, the Fan Man crash-landed at the 2min mark of the 7th.
