Scott LeDoux has sadly died aged 62, he was suffering from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Not the most talented fighter, but a personality who was good enough to deck Ron Lyle and go seven rounds with prime Larry Holmes. Recently LeDoux has worked for the Minneapolis Boxing Commission. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=8624&cat=boxer
The doctors gave Scotty three months at the start of 2010 but he said he would battle on way beyond that and he did. Scott was a huge boxing figure here in Minnesota. As a golden glove champion he would be often seen encouraging others learning the sport and as a professional he was willing to mix it with anyone anywhere. As local scribe Don Riley put it, "Scott went further with less then any other Minnesota boxer." A great guy and one tough heavyweight, the fighting Frenchman, Scotty LeDoux.
I've good memories of LeDoux from the late 70's and early 80's, though admittedly was usually rooting against him. For a guy with limited talent, he was brave and confident and truly fought the best around: Weaver, Foreman, Norton, Spinks, Holmes, Bruno, and Lyle. Didn't get many breaks, either. Was on TV A LOT, which again, for a guy with limited abilties, was quite a feat. Knocked Cosell's toupee off in his greatest victory. I very fondly recall those days of network TV boxing back then, Friday nights and weekend afternoons, and LeDoux was a pretty big figure in all of that.
