    Two different sports...yes:

    One for the true athletes

The other for the guys who cant make it in his own real sports.

OK then let me retort. I'll take this out of the realm of combat sports if Im may

Let me go back to the 1984 Olympic Game and use two athlete's to illistrate my point Gold Medal Winner in the Decathlon Daley Thompson, and Gold Medal winner in the 100m Carl Lewis

Lewis ran a faster time in the 100m final than Thompson did in the Decathlon 100m race, does this make him the better athlete? Baring in mind Thompson was also training for another 9 events

    Simple question

    Money.

    Glory.

    Talent Pool.

Not being a puppett in hands of a private company who rules the "sport" like a TV circus like WWE.

Answer the question. Was Carl Lewis a better athlete than Daley Thompson because he could run the 100m's faster, baring in mind Daley was also competing in 9 other disciplines at the Olympic Games?

Daley Thompson was actually a world class athlete in those other disciplines,so your comparison isn't valid.

MMGAY "fighters" have more options in their field of "fighting",but that doesn't mean that they're more skilled.

It is entirely valid as Thompson had a very broad skill set and his exceptional athletic ability allowed him to compete in all of the events that make up a Decathlon, without really excelling at one event the way Carl Lewis was able to excel at the 100m's

And you have contradicted your own argument with this second statement relating to more skilled. Just because boxers excel at one skill set, doest mean they are more skilled than a fighter who is able to combine multiple disciplines into his skill set. Granted, an MMA fighter is leagues behind a boxer in terms of using his hands, but the boxer cannot compete when it comes to
    Wrestling/Greco Roman Clinch fighting
    Jui Jitsu
Striking styles which incorporate kicks, knees and elbows

So there's just 3 broad definitions of skill sets which an average MMA fighter has to train for and utilise in an MMA fight

I agree with your Sprinter / Decathlete analogy but Carl Lewis is pretty much the worst 100m runner to use as an example given he was also Olympic champion in Long Jump and 200m and would probably have been an elite decathlete if he'd chose to compete in decathlon

I see what you mean fella. But if you think about it, the LJ and 200m are just adoptions of the same skill set. the only difference in the 3 is pacing and stamina in the 200m and of course jumping
