I feel sorry for David Tua

Also, I dont particularly feel sorry for him, when the only goal he has had is buying a house for his wife and kids. Dude he's fought for a world title, and is supposed to be a contender, a house should have been sorted out by now. Clearly a sign of someone who hasnt had his priorities straight in the past

i know what youre trying to say...tua was a really cool guy, never in media for being a dumbass, no drug accusations...his biggest killer was inactivity, and he did have bad management from time to time and a dispute with that trainer...but the buck stops somewhere on him, he hired these people....and he 57 fights....you named 4 guys he beat that were "good" but wouldnt classify mascaev as "good" the guy lost 8 times and was knocked cold all 8 times.... he does holld a stoppage win over rahman...but he was losing..and that was a horrible stoppage...draw in fight 2, moorer and ruiz were great kos no doubt

 

I've always been a fan of the Tuaman, but it's hard to feel sorry for a man who's lazily pissed away so many opportunities. Although it is surprising that a man with his talent who's beaten so many title holders never won a title himself.

And by the way, I scored that Ibeabuchi fight dead even in rounds, but if I had to give it to anyone it wouldn've been Tua because I felt he landed the heavier blows throughout.

I think Tua is the most overrated HW of the past 20 years.

Take away literally a minute of his career (A green Ruiz and a ex-LHW Moorer) and what have you got left? Yes, I love the Ike fight, but let's not forget he lost to a largely unproven prospest in Ibeabuchi.

He's not that exciting to watch, he generally just plods around, getting punched and not doing much, until in the last few rounds he tries to catch up.

I wish nothing against the guy, and hope he's got enough to retire on, but he really is very over-hyped.

You're trying prety hard there buddy to undermine Tua's career but just look at his list of wins and it far overshadows the resumes of a lot of modern times titleholders; Obed Sullivan, David Izon, Michael Moorer, Hasim Rahman, John Ruiz, Fres Oquendo, Oleg Maskaev. That's 3 legit top ten contenders, 2 titleholders, and 2 legit heavyweight champions on his resume, and he stopped every single one of them.

Do you think the resumes of Chagaev, Sam Peter, Ibragimov, and Valuev can stack up to that list of names?? I don't think so.

 

Answer me this, do you think he warrants all the hype he gets?

I'm really not trying that hard to undermine his career. He could of been so much more than he was, what I have an issue with is the ridiculous hype this guy gets for achieving very little in reality.

In answer to your question, I think Chagaev is the only one with a record that can match up, followed by Valuev.

Peter is another fighter I think is over-hyped for good looking KOs earlier in his career like against Jeremy Williams. I don't really rate Ibragimov record either.

His last meaningful win was 9 years ago against Moorer, who himself was 7 years removed from his HW belt.

What confuses me is somehow he's still been brought up like he's relevent for the past decade.

 

David Tua lacked commitment at times but he had the talent and with better management and focus would have won a version of the title.

He beat plenty of top Heavyweights and his power was awesome. He was just as likely to KO someone of quality late as well as early.

His record is quality and he was an exciting fighter.
