the cubans dont wanna work. At least with Gary he could force em now and again. This lad cant get em the shots. Need to get out of Ireland fast if they are gonna achieve anything. They wont do anything if theyre gettin things easy ( which they are )

    Castlebar under card wrap up
    http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/castlebar-undercard-wrap-up/

the place went wild when coyle won- you swear he knocked out Pac Man..

tears and all in the ring. great show i have to say the whole undercard was entertaining. Pajo looked strong and decent and Coyle has the support to go again...

Box-offs though controversial have asked a few questions - so team is:

    49 paddy
    52 conlon
    56 Nevin
    60 DO Joyce
64 - another box-off required here (or training camp together & whos ever top dog goes - billys pick)
    69 Sheehan (form)
    75 O'Neill
    81 ward
    91 egan
    91+ con

    solid team

kenny & con too light for world class in weight divisions though they are prob best in ireland, do find it odd that con moved up in weight just as kenny did while claiming only a few month ago at nationals that he was happy out at 91 - which of 2 would have better chance at 91?? i reckon we've moved from one strong chance (con) to 2 outsiders

lets not feed the above. Anyway, foolbos I would agree with your sentiment. If Kenny is gettin dropped and hurt by Ward and Mccarthy I cant see him being able for world class heavies. I really rate Sheehan but it would be tough enough for him to qualify at heavy, have to think it is a very big ask at 91+. I presume the moves in weight had been sorted between the lads beforehand? Would I be correct in favouring Con if they both stayed at heavy?

69 has to go to mclaughlin . he is top 10 in the world and would beat sheahan imo although sheahan seems to be finding his old form after years of being a bit off the boil

I like McLaughlin but I can't put him above Sheehan, what he did this week is phenomenal.
a box off maybe but what about Nolan?
Ps prob DOR would get JJJ into a 4 way box-off, lets go with Sheehan?

If you ask me the whole box offs were to reshuffle the heavy and superheavy divisions ,that Walsh got rid of Mc Donagh was a bonus.
This was a pure business decision because Kenny has got in excess of 200k from the sports council in grants and medal bonus' in the last 5 years. The investment must be seen through.
One of the best points made recently was instead of one good contender in a 91k Connie we have two outsiders in the divisions that may prove the tougest to qualify out of.
