Yuri Romanov

Remember making a thread about this guy and how he stopped Thaxton for the euro and never fought since. Well just popped on boxrec and found out he had a fight in June!

Did anybody catch the action? Top fighter he is and its a sin and shame how his career froze like that.

He was erratic as ****! But looked a top European fighter.

 

He's never lost properly tho, his 2 losses were debatable and his power is up there with anyones at the weight. He is ropey in his fighting technique but damn if he catches you, your gone :yep

 

Good to see him back. The first thing that sprung to my memory was him losing to Graham Earl. I only watched it on tv but the atmosphere seemed good.

Yuri always seemed like a decent operator.

 

I remember it was a big win for earl at the time.

 

I seem to remember that Romanov wasn't happy with the decision as well. If I remember right it was close fight and could have gone either way without cries of robbery. My memory is a bit hazy though, might have to watch that one again.

 

Earl was a decent fighter in his prime definitely above British Level imo :good

 

Romanov won that fight..easy.

 

Earl was a "decent operator". Romanov was world level potential.

He did jobs on both Bobby Vanzie and Steve Murray, Mullered both boys and they were good fighters.

 

Fair enough. Like I said my memory is a little hazy. I did remember him not being happy with the Earl decision. I'll try to take another look at some of his fights.
