I know I sound like a **** LP, but the ref wasn't forcing Mares to low blow. Abner knew he could get away with it and continued to do it. Fair play if Mares needs glasses and has depth perception issues where the low blows could be explained, but there abundant absence against Yohnny Perez suggests that hunch is wrong. Mares did it a bit against Darchinyan, but tonight he crossed the line and scored a low blow nearly every round. He's a nice kid and a real hearty, gutsy fighter who fought well tonight, but he is a dirty, dirty fighter aswell and I can't find respect for someone who did what he did tonight. :conf

fair do's mate, im just disapointed that Mares fought a great fight and his moment is ruined by a **** referee.

defo should of had at least 1 point taken, i think Mares will do the right thing and re-match him:good

    Alright, I'm going now.

I'll just say this, boxing very rarely has events that gets me genuinely excited, but when it finally conjures one up, a real great fight on paper between two very good fighters, it always conspires to **** itself over. It gives me nothing to really look forward to, I mean, my enthusiasm for watching Ward beat Froch is all but gone.

I literally couldn't care right now, a ****ing shambles. Agbeko was ****ing robbed of the opportunity to really prove himself to so many people who had bizarrely doubted him. And as far as I'm concerned he ****ing did, he was the superior fighter in that ring tonight, and he deserved to have his hand raised at the end by that slime.

But he didn't, and chances are we may not see him back here again. And where does Mares go? Well, he's promoted by Golden Boy, so he has the ****ing world at his feet, a brand new shining belt and a big W on his record. He'll move on, probably not to fight Donaire, but to fight Anselmo ****ing Moreno. And guess what? He'll dominate, because Moreno's inept at the highest level, yet will be lavished with praise/greater opportunities as a result, while Agbeko will probably be left languishing.

People say that a tournament from Showtime was designed so Andre Ward would emerge on top, was it ****, maybe Showtime didn't conspire it, but the only fighter that's had a tournament handed to him on a ****ing plate is Abner Mares. And it makes me truely sickened.

If Mares moment is ruined its as much his own fault as the refs, he didn't have to keep punching low, his corner told him to stop as well...

Mares fought a good fight and performed better than I expected, props to him for showing up with a plan, and ironing out flaws which were evident in the Darchinyan fight. Got his defense sorted and his jab looked a lot better. It really is a shame about the *****-punching.

My scorecard had it 113-113. Mares winning rounds 1(10-8), 2, 5, 6, & 11 (10-8), whilst Agbeko won rounds 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10 & 12 on my card. Not a bad decision, a Mares win was justified, but the offiiciating of the bout allowed it to happen.

Very true.Mares done well and the old cliche is if something is working, keep doing it. It was up to the ref to stamp it out.
I'm just glad I deliberately didn't go nuts for this fight incase it didn't turn out as expected.
Rematch needed and Mora needs to be low blowed continually

This. Nothing else needs to be said. I don't think I've ever agreed more with a post than this one.

Pedz, u honestly think he hit him low on purpose everytime :huh

ScouseLeader, thats a fair point, Mares is getting better every fight, he'll win more convincingly next time IMO. yes the ref was ****, i'd like to see the scorecards, sometimes if the judges clearly see it wasn't a KD they still score the round 10-9

    Scotty, :good

You've summed up how I feel perfectly - except I'll add that Mora is either corrupt or dangerously inept. Either way he shoul never be allowed to officiate so much as a bar room brawl ever again.

Mares intentionally hit him low plenty, then had the brass to feign innocence. I lost a lot of respect for Mares tonight.

Mares thought punches within 6 inches of the belt were okay as the ref never deducted a point...
