    I meant OWE my bad.

The Olympic team now and days is NOTHING compared to what it was in the 70s - 80s. NOTHING like it. Yeah its still a top nation..one of the best, but nothing like before. You guys didn't win one gold last games. Asia ruled last Olympic games.

This is true. I was very disappointed. And much of the "A" team from now has defected.

I didn't read the opening post nor did I read anything else in this thread, I just know this thread is full of Cubans who have a massive inferiority complex and try to act like they are superior to other Latin boxing powerhouses like Puerto Rico or Mexico.......The average Cuban boxing fan is a down syndrome ******, if ya don't like what I'm typing then too bad.

Yea El cepello was good, and shocked the world against Katsidis. Did pretty Good against Marquez until the stoppage. Only stoppage lost of his career if i can remember correctly.

Guerrero took it easy on him tho. El celpillo should hang em up. Lara is one of my favorites, Gamboa is aswell. I want to see more from Rigo.

Better fighters than Mexico? You mean like when Lara fought 2nd tier fighter Molina, Marquez going up a division to face Casa, or Palomino getting revenge on Stracey for beating Napoles? Oh yea, they so much better. Name me at least 5 atgs Cubans have beaten. Between Morales, Barrera, Marquez, Castillo, and Chiquita Gonzales each has beaten one or more ATGs and those arent even top 5 Mexican fighters.

Napoles: Emile Griffith, Curtis Cokes, Eddie Perkins

    Rodriguez: Emile Griffith, Curtis Cokes

Gavilan: Ike Williams, Carmen Basilio, Billy Graham, Beau Jack, highly competitive losses against Sugar Ray Robinson

Florentino Fernandez: Jose Torres, Ralph Dupas

Kid Chocolate: Benny Bass, Fidel LaBarba

    Benny Paret: Emile Griffith

    Jose Legra: Howard Winstone

Kid Tunero: Ezzard Charles, Holman Williams

Let me explain something for you and everyone here. Of course I know that there's some difference between amateur and pro boxing, ( but not by much ) but the Cuban " amateurs " are not your ordinary amateurs. The Cubans are actually professional 4 round fighters, as they live and breath boxing from morning to sundown. They actually train for 12 rounds to fight 4 rounders and they are used to training without headgear.

If I go ahead and state something like that it's because I know what they are capable of doing. Cuba's best " amateurs " can beat anyone including the pros. Many of the great Cuban defectors have failed in the pros for #1- lack of discipline, #2- defected too old, but others have made an impact like Casamayor and Gomez.

Did you ever see the Diosbelys Hurtado- Pernell Whitaker fight? Even though Hurtado unfortunately got tired, lost focus and got KO'd in the 12th, he was giving the #1 P4P fighter in the World a Cuban boxing lesson. Hurtado was ahead in every judges scorecard and dropped " the unhittable " Whitaker 3 times to the canvas while Pernell spent the whole fight chasing Hurtado and missing like an amateur. :rofl

Hurtado was just 20-0 and hadn't fought anyone of class until Whitaker and he ridiculized him! Even De La Hoya and the HBO commentators were saying that Whitaker needed to KO Hurtado and he got so damm lucky that got Hurtado against the ropes and hit him with one lucky shot and he couldn't recover. Well, enough of that, no excuses as Hurtado lost but he demonstrated what the Cuban " amateurs " can do to the pros.

Other Cubans like Rigondeaux, with just 7 pro fights captured the WBA Interim Title and defeated an ex-World Champ with more than 45 pro fights.

I remember back in the 1991 PanAm Games in Habana, that this American wrestler that never had lost a single match in his entire career went to Cuba and this Cuban black guy got him and destroy him with ease. The american commentators were astonished but not the Cubans, as we knew the talent over there is immense.

You seem to be very confused when talking about Cuba and the Cuban fighters, on one hand you like Cuba's greats and say that they would have been great at the pros, but then come back and bash them. You are very hard to understand.

Rigondeaux boxes Gomez's ears out or KO's him with one of Rigo's wicked body punches. The slick boxer always beats the puncher. ;)
