Agbeko was robbed, but most people fail to realise why, including Joseph himself. The greatest money-maker in boxing is a young, undefeated champion. It is now commonplace for the undefeated fighter to get favors from judges and refs in a close fight. Oscar even said it in an interview before his "win" over Whitaker. There are hundreds of examples of this. Agbeko should expose the obvious truth, which is that Mares was protected because of his "0". Joseph shot himself in the foot by shouting "racism", because now Abner's people just have to point out that the black judge scored it for Mares. They don't have to invent a straw man: Agbeko just handed it to them.
He said it was racism on the part of the ref. The judges had nothing to do with the travesty that happened last night. The black judge scoring it for Mares is irrelevant
By shouting 'racism', I don't think Agbeko handed them anything. Everyone knows the truth, and the demand from the public to sort a rematch will not fall on deaf ears.
African fighters are seen as less marketable, so in a way it is because of race. Funeka vs Guzman, Ngoudjo vs Castillo, Agbeko vs Mares. Enough of this bull**** This content is protected
He didnt cry racism because he was black, he said that African fighters dont get treated fairly and he is right. Same is true for Argentinian fighters. As said above, Mares has more potential to make more money and build a bigger fanbase.
Well, no. One judge scored the fight a draw. If the ref is favoring one fighter, a good judge will favor the one who's getting screwed over. Two judges (including the black one) were part of the deal to favor the young, undefeated man.
And this has been going on, so they they know they have to fight all these obstacles too, crazy, crazy, crazy.
I didn't see anything that could be construed as rascism last nite. I saw multiple fouling from both fighters, and the low blows didn't appear to be blatant or premeditated. I do think Mares could. or SHOULD, have been deducted a point or 2, but a DQ was not IMO necessary. Having watched the fight again, I could not give it to Agbeko anyway, even had Mares lost the 2 pts for low blows and the point for the KD. Agbeko should have been deducted a point for pushing Mares head down, which he did at least 9 times. Mares landed 17 low blows. So take 2 and KD away from Mares and 1 away from Agbeko for the holding, and then score the fight from an unbiased view. Clearly a 114-112 win for Mares who clearly won 6 rounds of the fight with as 10-8 1st. Agbeko only won 3 rounds clearly though I did give him a close 4th in the 2nd rd, which coulda went to Mares.
But you don't dispute the assumptions. Perhaps you don't want to make a further fool of yourself. In cases of corruption, there is so much money involved that people keep their mouths shut, and we have no evidence. But if something happens over and over again, we have to stop being fools and call them out. Everyone "assumes" that a robbery took place here. It's an assumption. Do you think that it was just a big fluke mistake? If so, your naivete will contribute to helping the corrupt officials in boxing.
i believe Agbeko's point of view was the history of unfavorable decisions by nationality, not ethnicity. There's a BEEG difference....
A white BEING racist, that's even more unusual !!!atsch Agbeko is right. Some people just need to stack the deck to win.
