    montiel by far.montiel is faster, way better counterpucher,better footwork, more power, better ring iq. mares is sloppy as sh1t, gets hit way too much.

    Pretty much my thoughts. Mares my be a little quicker, not sure. But that's about the only advantage he has.

    IMO, Montiel showed little vs Donaire, while Mares dominated a champion last night. As far as I'm concerned ANY thread pitting Mares against anyone other than Donaire is purely a HATE ON MARES thread.

    Shame on you guys. Just cuz you don't like a guy because YOU THINK he's "overrated" doesn't mean he aint worth his title shot. He beat Agbeko clearly, even with all the foulplay(which was on both sides from an unbiased POV).

    He beat Agbeko and DESERVES his payday vs Donaire. PERIOD!

    Win or lose, Montiel should be after Donaire, not before.

    If Donaire don't take this fight, I'll lose ALL respect for him as it will appear he's taking the Bradley way out.
