I mean, even if Roy has a resounding victory over Tito, and provided Calzaghe has the tools to beat Hopkins, would Joe really want to take on another "Senior" in lieu of some of the fresher faces in the game? It would tarnish his already questionable resume of opponents.

Difficult one but at this stage I would have to say Roy probably needs Joe more than Joe needs him. If he looks good beating Tito, then who knows.

Deserving or not, just about ANYone will call out the top fighter; it means nothing, as its done all the time, and only gets attention if its a worthy matchup.

These public proclamations of wanting someone are a dime a dozen, and are about as valuable as a grain of salt. Its what fighters do to hype themselves. Its part of the game, even if it is meaningless, 95% if the time.

calzaghe need to fight the upper level to prove him self as a ATG, if he beats B-Hop, and then beats RJJ. then, goes against the top in the div. and wins. he can say he was willing to fight the best he can find. if he ducks anyone, he cant say that. it will leave guys like me saying "yeah he was good. but, he never wanted to fight Roy." so I think he has to take on everyone who has some cred. or he isnt an ATG.

He certainly has a less than stellar list of opponents for all the hoopla he gets. For as old as Nard is, I believe it's a huge step up for him in quality of opposition.

He said he's only gonna fight about 2 more times. Bhop is up first for an established ATG. Then you want him to fight Roy?? No way. He'll either fight Woods (most likely) or maybe Dawson.

But at the same time, RJJ isn't going to take a fight if he doesn't think he can win. He's not Tito. He's not in it JUST for the money. He's also in it to win it.

So if he really wants Calzaghe, he must feel like he can really win.

^^^^ abosuletly, a Roy win over Joe C would be Enormous given Roy's current state, A Joe C win over Roy means Joe beat up on a way over the hill Roy Jones

Anyway Prime 4 Prime Jones all the way At this stage I would be astonished if Roy won <<< btw Roy's my #1 fighter

If Joe beats Hopkins he'll get accused of beating up an old man, same with Jones. I'm not really sure there's an opponent out there that will really earn him a lot of credit in the eyes of most boxing fans. Dawson too green, Woods or Danny Green not that good etc... Maybe Pavlik if he gets by Taylor again would be appropriate.

For sure, Joe will fight Jones. Big Joe loves easy fights against old timers...

I have thought about this. I know Joe wants a "name" opponent on his resume. Bernard Hopkins will be that name. A fight and win against Jones would certainly be good but I think most people wouldn't put too much stock in it considering Roy Jones has been in a huge decline. I think he'd probably skip Jones and fight someone like Woods instead since his time is limited according to him.
