So who are they going to get for Groves to fight next? ****** has got Degale a Euro shot with Wilczewski.
That's fell thru hasn't it? thats what i heard? Ideally Groves will go that route, if not he should go the for the weakest title route and but there again the division is stacked beyond belief so it might not hurt him to just gain experience and sit on his throne and wait for the euro honours. No way he beats any of the elite in the division for a while to come.
The word is that its still on and its in London (Wembley I think), BUT his opponent might is looking for a Kessler fight and is worried that a loss to Degale would prevent his £payday against Kessler.
He's not going to get a Kessler fight if he beats DeGale.... there's lots of options out there for Kessler that are far more lucrative. Probably so domestically, Groves has the British and Commonwealth titles and they've beaten everybody else worth mentioning between them. The best option IMO careerwise is to go to the States, but Allegedly hasn't done that for a very long time, and HBO/Showtime aren't going to bankroll his contract for a meaningless ten rounder. Frankie better get his thinking cap on.
The only way is to get a WBA/WBO Inter something but defend it agaisnt decent names. Someone like Edison Miranda would still get attention. Maybe not. just thinking out loud.
Tony Bellew said on the Main Event show that he tried to get Kenny Anderson for September but hes fighting a rematch with George Groves instead.
Yeah perhaps..... Miranda isn't anything special but carries a bit of name value still. I'm not sure whether this applies to DeGale but most Allegedly fighters have a clause in their contracts that if they lose twice back to back they can be released - in the same way Anderson was released by Hatton after just one defeat. With the amount of money he'll cost for the return Allegedly gets I'd be tempted to cash him in and have done with it, or look to renegotiate the terms in some way. He's up **** creek without a paddle really, he's lost to his most bitter domestic rival, there's nobody else in the division to beat at home, the Euro shot might have gone and they'll struggle to afford to get anyone decent over due to the purse that DeGale will be guaranteed! Rather him than me :deal
I said early in 2010 that DeGale would part ways with ******. To be fair i said it would have happend by now. But your right. Theres no PPV, DeGale doesn't sell tickets and people think he is a *****. The only thing on his side was late last year he looked like a class act and posters on here (including yourself BB) were drooling over him. Now he has been exposed slightly, can see ****** not bothering with him. Cleverly, Mitchell, Burns, Bellew, The Smiths, Liam Walsh. they all sell tickets and won't be on more money than DeGale. Same thing could happen to Gavin if his next performance is not up to par.
I'm not sure..... I think he'll do what he can to stay put, he's not gonna get the same money elsewhere, either here or abroad. Plus, there'll be a new set of Olympians this time next year.... he needs to be careful what he does. Realistically he needs to be moved on and quick, a loss at domestic level wasn't part of the plan. Not sure what will happen with Frankie but their progress has been frustratingly slow.
yep. now that he has gone back to 140lbs he is pack of the q. Wright, Williams and Place all ahead of him for a shot at Theophane. Think he needs to target McAllister for the Commonwealth.
