Its Official, David Haye is the reason Sky have dropped Big Time Boxing

It was Khan fighting bums and getting knocked out by columbians that did it.

 

thinks thats kinda unfair really on fighters deserving of being a PPV fighter

 

Don't really post much, but all these rumours about sky pulling out of PPV puzzles me :think

I know that the David Haye PPV fights were pretty abysmal quality wise, but didn't they sell really well and presumably make loads of money for sky? Surely as well if Haye announced a comeback vs Vitali, Sky know the casuals will come back when the hype is piled on as they always do.

 

Thats what you get for throwing all your eggs in one basket as they say.

 

Is the fact that Sky didn't bid on a non-PPV fight like Mayweather-Ortiz connected to the fact that they have no PPV fights on the horizon?

Maybe, maybe not. But its not as clear cut as the thread title makes out IMHO.

It's not turning it's back on ''Big Time Boxing'' at all.

The TV companies dictate what fighters earn..... if Sky aren't interested they don't make much money from the UK.

If Khan can sell tickets in America and make good money then fair play, but Sky shouldn't pander to his management and stick him on PPV at the detriment to the rest of their coverage.

 

A lot felt cheated after the first but they still bought the second atsch I reckon the general public would end up buying a third as well!

Another question would be, what is the lowest amount of PPV buys that would render a PPV show pointless doing? At the end of the day Sky isn't bothered about giving us value for money, all they are bothered about are profits. The numbers that Haye has been doing must have been raking it in for Sky.

 

I don't want to make a statement which is somewhat hyperbolic but there is no denying that David Haye has been detrimental to Boxing's reputation in this country.

The fight with Harrison was farcical, his excuse for losing the Vladimir for fight was pathetic, the lack of sportsmanship and disrespect shown to his opponents has brought into question the ethics of Boxing and his fights have been a cure for insomnia. You tell me if you think he has shone a positive light on Boxing, which has helped to bring in new fans.

Don't get me wrong one man, one fight does not make or break Boxing but there is absolutely no denying that Mr Haye has done Boxing no favours.

 

Couldn't agree more, Haye hasn't done any good for the reputation of boxing - I just question whether the damage is as bad as its been made out? Because of his last two farcical fights PPV is now unprofitable for them? I'm not complaining about it, just didn't realise it was this bad?

 

Dan, Haye didn't help but the reason Sky are taking a step back from PPV boxing is that there are no decent PPVs for them to sell. Simple as that.

PBF-Ortiz is PPV on PrimeTime, no way it was PPV on Sky.

The TS is wildly exagerating the situation IMHO.

 

PPV isn't worth doing for them at the moment because they don't have a PPV fighter without Haye. If Khan wasn't fighting at 4am then it might be a different matter.
