what the hell else do you base it on?

I base my picks off their skills. My preference for the fighters is a little more complex than that.

To support a fighter, you have like them as a person. Respect and admire their principles and ethics. Ortiz just sounds like some kind of fat kid, that is trying to be tough. Floyd Mayweather is flamboyant and has allot of swagger.

He's not my most liked boxer, but i like him more than Ortiz.

    Ortiz the fatboy.

Well, they're boxers, so I'm not going to have a partiality for fighters who are simply nice guys.

I base picks off their skills, and how much I like them based on skills/style/etc.

I don't know if Anselmo Moreno is a nice guy or not, I don't care quite frankly, but I don't like him because of how he fights and how overrated he gets amongst many people.

Ortiz just spends the whole of this face off looking stoned and saying the word bro.

Most boring face off in history

Read what I posted, mate. I base my PICKS off their skills. But some fighters it just pleases me to see them getting beat. Like DeGale. I felt lighter after that **** got beaten.

I know what you posted, maybe it's just me but I'm not really one to pick who I want to win due to a fighters personality, it's more them as a fighter more so than anything else.

Even with the likes of DeGale, sure he's a twat but I'm not going to want him to lose because of it. I wanted Groves to beat him and will probably always root against him because I hate his style, terrible footwork, no punching form/technique, and, most of all, because a ridiculous amount of people here were already anointing him as "world-class" because he beat Paul bloody Smith, which was laughable.

I'm not chastising you or anything of the sort, just saying that I don't really get it myself.

ortiz actually comes of more fake then floyd an amazing achivement.his personality switches between the aw shucks nice guy,the laidback stoner, the aggressive kill or be killed fighter, the devoted family man depending on the interview he reminds alot of the way odlh was in front of the media

Yep Ortiz is very contrived in this. But thats what I don't like about Face Off, its a contrived situation so it makes everyone look a moron. Whos really come out of it looking good so far? It's a waste of time, it doesn't build excitement purely because its so ****ing gay. Press conferences do this job.

I agree with this and this is what I was trying to point out.

I like fighters for their style. Their personality doesn't cloud my judgement on who will win a fight. Bam Bam Rios is a guy who I think is a thugish lad who I generally would not like. However I enjoy watching him and he is one of my favourite fighters to watch because of his style.

Too many people let their bias cloud their judgement and it is very common on this forum. There are some good posters (mandana, tffp and others I cant remember but read their posts) and then there are other biased posters.

The forum makes for a really good read when you have added the biased posters to your ignore list as I have.

rumour has it that ortiz is involved with very shady people. according to brandon rios, ortiz sent a hitman over to his house to shoot him but rios was not home at the time and his wife sustained an injury when she got a fright and ran from the hitman.

i dont know if that story is true or not but there is a LOT of animosity between rios and ortiz as they grew up together and had a massive falling out which broke up a family. I remember reading a few interviews from rios when he was coming up and all he would talk about is how he as going to destroy ortiz eventually
