I watched that fight..........not exactly the most memorable fight ever.....Tua threw nothing of note all night!
i wouldnt call barrett a c level boxer........ perhaps b-:smoke:smoke:smoke.........c level boxer would be wimpy halstead.........or bryant scott.........
Tua with a better trainer would of shown him how to neutralize jabs, body attack, and think in there, lay traps for the bigger man. He should of kept Barrett on the ropes. Another thing he still has power, but its not close to the devastating power he once had. Im glad he didnt fight a Klit.
If Tua can break Barrett's jaw, then he still has his power One shot to Wlad's chin is all it takes. You can say this will not happen But watch the video again. You cannot say there is "no chance" he will clip Wlad with one decent shot. I don't think Wlad would get up from those kind of punches. One decent shot from Tua. Just one - with 12 full rounds to get it. Don't tell me there is "no chance".
I don't think that anyone is doubting that Tua still has power in his shots. The man will probably be able to knock the crap out of someone when he's in his 60's. It's everything else that wasn't there- stamina, mobility, ect. I've always been a big Tua fan, but he never showed up in shape for his fights, and that limited what he could do in the ring. Tua loves to eat in between fights the way that Riddick Bowe did. His prime fighting weight was 225-230 lbs, and I doub't he'll ever get back down to that. I'll always watch his fight because I'm a fan, but he peaked in the Ibeabuchi fight, and those days are long gone.
I know your proud he finished decent, but he looked like a fat beach seal the first 2/3 of the fight... Tua needs to move on to hot dog eating contest or something, I am sure he will show more passion if there is food involved.
I agree - weight is his biggest problem But that does not stop me thinking this would be a better fight for Wlad than a lot of others.
It took Tua 24 rounds to "get it" against a Barrett who fell easily to Haye and Solis inside 5 and 2 rounds receptively. You really think Tua could succeed against Wlad when he could not against Barrett despite having a 24 rounds against the 40 year old.atsch
If Tua got in the ring with Wlad, David would get hurt...bad. Wlad would close up his eyes with jabs from a distance, and then he'd start landing power shots and hurt him. When Tua fought Lewis, he turtled up once he felt the power in Lewis's right hand, and that was pretty much it for the rest of the fight. Like I said, David still has KO power, but there's no way he gets inside of Wlads jab. I think he would go into defensive mode again as soon as he started catching power shots coming in.
Kiwi obviously thinks that Wlad is an easier proposition than Barrette......he must be smokin some strong stuff right now!
Did you look at the video? Barrett lifted himself and trained the house down. Got up with a broken jaw to survive and win on points. My simple point is that Tua's power would take Wlad OUT if he could only connect with one decent shot. And no-one can tell me it is "impossible" that Tua would connect sometime in the 12 rounds.
Bryd didnt beat Tua as you say easily. Bryd won it clearly but not easily. Tua tko undefeated Oquendo. The same Oquendo imo clearly outbox Bryd.
