maybe if Cotto didn't get beat up by Margarito, he would have gotten his shot. When Floyd came back from retirement he had an agenda and that was to get a mega fight and that meant Pacquiao. When Pacquiao vs Cotto was signed, Cotto could have gotten his shot then at Mayweather if he won, but he didn't.

Really the fight should have been made back after the Hatton fight, but Floyd retired. The thing is Floyd said he was retiring after the Baldomir fight and then Oscar came. He actually came out of retirement to fight Hatton and then just stayed that way.
What if Floyd came out of retirement again and beat Cotto? Then Paul Williams is the guy to beat?

Because the fight didn't make sense. Floyd was so called ducking Baldomir also. Yes people were saying that back then. So he decided to fight him instead for much more gain.
Also Baldomir was on a 21 fight winning streak and just beat Gatti and Judah.
