Benny Paret is not an atg, regardless of whether he beat Griffith or Jordon. Not enough wins to be considered an atg, especially when you consider the amount of great welterweights throughout history

Neither is Nino Valdes for that matter.

Oh yes they do. Gomez was nowhere near Rigondeaux in the ams, he would had gotten completely dominated if he fought Rigo at the Olympics. :!:

I will say that Napoles is the most stylish fascinating fighter I've ever watched. The way each punch, each movement moves into the other is a little like ballet...expect he ****ed people up rather than do the splits.

No, no loco. Take a look at the list, go online and research about Mantequilla Napoles, Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilán and Luis Manuel Rodriguez. You should learn history as not only the present counts. These 4 Cubans are Hall of Famers and all time greats, don't say " tan loco " without knowing who these fighters are and what they did. The problem is that the Cubans have been banned from pro sports for so long that people have even forgotten about how good they were.

Oh by the way, that pic in your avi about Guerrero beating up on a old, over the hill, in a wheelchair Casamayor is disrespectful, a prime Casamayor schools Guerrero, like taking candy from a baby. :hey

No Gold for Cuba but we had 8 fighters in the Final, 6 took Silver. My friend, the problem is that when Cuba doesn't dominate they are badly critized. 6 Silvers is very good considering they had a very young and inexperienced Team, not counting the many defections that really hurt them ! ;)

Great names:good, im not really the biggest fan when it comes to real old school fighters. I have always been impress and began watching fighters from the 80's and up and even 70's. I know a lot of people feel different when talking about guys in the 1930's and worship them, nothing wrong with that. In my case its a department I have not had much interest and maybe one day take some time to watch some of their available fights. Names like Duran, Chavez, Gomez, Tito, Zarate, Arguello, Benitez, Monzon are some other good names and plenty of more that will take days.

With all due respect, half or more on that list are not ATGs. Like I said before amd Ill say it again Kid Gavilan alone has beaten beaten more ATGs than the rest of the Cuban fighters and thats because he had a style that resembled more Mexican fajador than the supposedly "superior" technical style they teaching the Cubanos recently. Emile Griffith was the only other ATG that Gavilan didnt beat. Williams, Basilio, Jack, and Griffith are the only ATGs in that list. No me vengan con cuentos chinos.

I wasn't counting the number of Cuban atg's. I was counting the number of atg's that Cubans defeated.

Ezzard Charles is arguably a top 5 fighter ever. Billy Graham is arguably an all-time great with wins over Giardello, Basilio, and Kid Gavilan. So again...I think there are about 5 all-time greats on that list.

Sure, in the amateurs. But relevance to a professional fight? Don't think so.

There is nothing close to Mexican about Gavilan's style...he was all Cubano baby. Smooth, skilled and savvy.

He would have been fouled out before Rigo even had a chance to start dominating...part of the reason why he would give Rigo a brutal schooling in the differences between the two versions of the sport.

Theres nothing mexican about Gavilan's style.

Next you'll be trying to claim him as mexican like you did with Duran.

And how is Ezzard Charles not an ATG?
