I could take the 'regular' champion line. Because you could have a champ for each 4 recognised belts, then a WBA unifies which makes it 3, so the WBA 'regular' makes up the 4.

But this is a 3rd in line belt in WBA. It should just be an eliminator.

There was a bunch of money issues as to why the Kessler rematch did not happen. And when that could not be worked out Mundine dropped to 160 as had been mooted for few years to seek bigger fights to elevate his status. But as I have said those fights could not be made either as the likes of Pavlik and co had little to gain but lots to lose against a Mundine.

This is a business, especially for guys like Mundine who are self promoted. A to Z its their cash that puts on shows. They have to make correct choices. This aint no weekend social tennis....

But outside the big fights Mundine could have fought better opposition which came back to bite him in the butt....

Now withóut being called Mundine nut hugger and all that crap I am just stating the facts as to how it really is as opposed to the silly stuff said by some. No fighter ever runs from anyone. They all work their guts out and take on all comers.

What about when he became Golovkin's mandatory but never even bothered to attend the purse bid?

What about paying Wood another $100k to agree to fight at MW? he didn't seem to mind throwing away his money there, even got KTFO :yep

Face facts Gavin, Mundine has made enough money over the years from gullible fans to be able to afford to fight many big names but instead he's chosen to hide behind excuses of moving down in weight to stay at home and fight tin cans.

And then Top it off with "He wants to step up and Fight Cotto Mayweather and take on the World,His career has been manipulated and after defeats to Kessler and Ottke He was never going to fight anyone with a pulse end of story.!!!!

Mundine cant constantly hide under the banner of money issues. Its no secret that slimeball Nasser is a f*ckn pain in the ass to negotiate with.

Gav, you know very well i used to be a supporter of Mundine back in the day (and note the use of the word supporter, not nutswinger), but you can only be dragged through the mud so long. I suggest jumping off that train too mate....

mundine has dodged a few rematches and faced plenty of taxi drivers but he has also been in the ring with quite a few primed top shelf opponents, that cannot be denied.

correct me if i am wrong ( im not certain) but didnt kessler pay mundine to step aside so he could chase someone else?

 

Both Andrade and Mundine were paid step aside money by Beyer and Kessler respectively to allow Beyer and Kessler to unify the WBC and the WBA SMW titles.

Once Kessler beat Beyer, he was elevated to WBA superchamp status and Mundine then fought Soliman for the vacant 'regular' WBA SMW belt.

Kessler went on to fight Calzaghe in an effort to unify his WBC amd WBA belts with Calzaghe's IBF and IBO belts.

When Kessler lost to Calzaghe, Mundine's 'regular' WBA SMW title became the 'true' WBA SMW title and Kessler became Mundine's mandatory.

Mundine then vacated the 'true' WBA SMW belt after having held it for something like 2 months and moved down to MW to fight...Crazy Kim.

i say u can classify geale as top shelf.... he may not be the best there is but certainly a class act. It would also depend on how u rate Danny Green.

 

No IBF and IBO titles involved when Calzaghe fought Kessler WBO ,WBA & WBC only , Joe was stripped of the IBF for not fighting Rob Steiglitz and who knows what happened to the IBO title ? ,perhaps Phil could give the scoop on what happened there .

 

Well, his greatest wins have been against domestic opposition. Geale is certainly doing Anthony some favours by the course his career is taking post Mundine loss.

I think ultimately Mundine has lacked belief when it came to the world stage. For me, the fight he impressed most in was when he demolished Sam Soliman in their first rematch.

He outclassed Green, true.

But they aren't the class of fighters that Anthony claims he belongs amongst. He has left nothing as a boxing legacy but if you regard a boxer on his earning and headline generating capabilities then he's had quite a career
