http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/itw/features/Ratings.html Bruno v Bugner had the 3rd highest ratings on ITV for the year so don't know how accurate that top 10 People Magazine compiled
Promoters are too scared to release their footage. How many fans don't watch a football game but keep up on the weeks games just because of MOTD. MMA releases their footage and someone like MMA Live pick it all up every week and run all their fights and discuss them. If there was a British boxing show everyweek ******, Hennessey etc would all be cocks and not give them the highlights to the degree they should. They don't release it would see the fans buy into the fighters more because they would know what they are buying. Instead you get some **** marketing by Sky so they buy Haye vs Harrison or Haye vs Wlad and then we've lost those fans, in addition to Sky pulling out from PPV. It's all a knock on effect.
Was the Ali V Frazier fight shown live or on closed circuit theatres? Imn sure it was the latter The 27million would of watched it the next night. still amazing
But we literally had 2 tv channels, 3 at most. Grannies would be doing their knitting with the telly on, many not giving a **** about the boxing.
Calzaghe vs Lacy was about 2 million but it was on in the middle of the night. Calzaghe wasn't a name outside of boxing fans then really and was expected to lose. Khan's figures I can't remember, I do remember from the return to ITV Audley vs Williams getting a high 8 million and them getting lower after that, still not bad though, Williams vs Skelton was supposed to have had 6 million viewers.
Well, I imagine the 27m assumes everyone within the household was watching, but no friends/neighbours etc. Whereas the 1.3m will be 1.3m households. Like for like, it's probably 27m vs 5m.
Last 10 years, you'd probably have 3 or 4 Khan fights, Froch-Pascal, and a couple of Harrison fights.
Although they all probably did well against what they were competing against, I doubt any of them got near the top 10, with the possible exception of Harrison's debut. The soap operas and (club) Football matches do not tend to get them numbers, let alone boxing fights.
I'm not saying they would beat the original list, I'm talking about a list of fights from the last 10 years.

I don't get it, either. And what about all Ali's other fights (I know Foreman was on at 4am?)... like Frazier II, Frazier III, Norton, Bugner, Brian London or whatever... maybe they weren't live? Or maybe they were on too late? (Bruno-Bugner wasn't live! It was almost live.)
His most watched fights seem to have been Laporte, Cabrera and Steve Cruz, but his title win was against Eusebio Pedroza ?? anyone in a position to rank these fights in terms of anticipation in the UK, and then on the quality of the fight...?
