Both Manny and Floyd are great fighters, but neither have proved to be great welterweights. Floyd fought weak fighters like Baldomir and Judah close to their primes, while Manny beat well known names recently damaged and not in their primes. Clottey is the only fight I give Manny at WW and was a good win over a good, but not great fighter.Ortiz looks like a natural WW, but he only had one fight there. Still, he beat an explosive fighter in Berto that could potentially hurt both Pacman or Floyd and one in which neither faced. Theres the general thought hed get outclassed by either, but talk is cheap and I dont think there is a fighter more dangerous than a young fighter that lives and dreams to knock your block off and get the recognition he craves.

Please take your head out of your ass.

Hatton was undefeated and a former 147lb titlist when Floyd fought him. Hatton was EASILY a top ten welter.

I think this right here says everything we need to know.

    Pacquiao is a protected fighter...

No. Their fight was contested @ the welterweight limit, IIRC...

Welterweight has a limit of 147lbs. Period, end of story. The Pac Cotto fight was NOT CONTESTED @ the WW limit. Therefore it was NOT a WW fight.

    1 + 1 = 2

What is so difficult about this for you to understand?

You really need to stop with this blantant BS. Cotto had just been BRUTALLY beaten and KO'ed by Margarito prior to the Pacquiao fight. Only a Pinoy nut gulping ******* would consider the Cotto that Pacquiao faced as "arguably the best at 147".

Please take your head out of your ass...

yeah i'm a pinoy, you got me.

who was the best WW at the time then?

mosley was inactive, plus cotto had already beaten mosley close but clearly. cotto was coming off a very close win over clottey whereas mosley was inactive for 15 months or so?

I believe that mosley had actually dropped below cotto in the rankings due to inactivity.

    Pacquiao

    DLH = drained catch weight
Cotto= catch weight, coming off of a beat down with Margarito
Clottey= coming off of a lost, and did nothing to be in the same ring with Pac (note there was no need for this fight to be a catch weight so it wasn't, because Pac already had the advantage)
Margarito= Another catch weight, who also done nothing to be in the ring with him. Keep in mind Pac has fought at the (so called) 147lb mark three fights in a row. The least he could of done is fought Marg at 154lb instead of a catch weight.
Mosley= Another fighter coming off of two lost back to back and shouldn't of been in the ring with Pac. How could Pac welter weight record better then Floyd when every one he's fought were catch weights or coming off of lost? Now he's fighting a 38 year old Marquez at a weight that Floyd was bashed for fighting him at, but everything seems to be OK because Pac is fighting him there now.

no at the time of pac-cotto margo was banned. no way was he the best WW, plus he'd been smacked around by mosley.

had mosley remained active he'd be certain number 1, and I still considered him number 1 at the time of the floyd fight, but it was obviosuly arguable due to cotto beating mosley.

but are you saying floyd's win over marquez and ortiz's over berto don't count because they were catchweights? because you sound like a floyd hater with that talk discrediting mayweather.

Ok, fine. If you insist that Berto Ortiz was contested @ 145lbs then I have no reason to disagree with you. I honestly don't recall.

That said, my question is; what does Berto Ortiz have to do with the price of tea in China or the topic of discussion @ hand?
