How many have read this book ? It's about the fight,plus build up and aftermath,between Muhammad Ali and Alvin 'Blue' Lewis on 19/7/72 at Croke Park,Dublin. Only a minor fight in the great man's canon,but interesting.
This interested me because 'The Fight' is also the name for Norman Mailer's account of the Rumble in the Jungle. Turns out, the Hannigan book is called 'The Big Fight'. It's on Amazon for cheap. This interests me and I may get it. Thanks!
This is a rare Ali book that might provide a different angle and something I haven't heard about the man before. I look forward to reading it.

No startling new revelations about the great man,Briscoe. Just a good read about a fight which was a relatively minor one in the Ali canon. it was also the first time I'd seen any in depth info about Muhammad's British friend,Paddy Monaghan,and details about the promoter,Harold Conrad,who worked like a beaver to get Ali a fight after his license had been unjustly taken from him in '67.
I have the book, but have not read it yet, but i understand that Some of the assembled masses amusingly Mistook John Conteh for Ali when he was fighting Johnny Mac on the undercard, at the Time Conteh was fighting at heavy, A few too many pre-fight Guinesses to blame perhaps ?
