Chang at light Fly is as good a mention as Gomez at superbantam imo.

It's a near certainty that no boxer was ever unbeatable at any weight.

You might qualify the question a bit by asking:

"Which boxers, on their best night, were really unbeatable at a weight class? "

(Apologies if that's what you meant)

With regard to the original question, there is ALWAYS scope for an upset.

    Rahman/Lewis, Schmeling/Louis, Marshall/Liston, Douglas/Tyson etc.

Very few greats were able to perform at the top of their game every bout. Most had an off night sometime. For this reason, I give extra consideration to the few who retired with a zero.

Even then, I would not consider them unbeatable.

On his best night, in either year, IMO, unbeatable by any boxer.

    Ever.

Too bad for McCallum that Steward didn't have the same confidence in his invicibility, then Mike would have gotten his shot at him...

    In short. This is nonsense.

Henry Armstrong at welterweight. He was simply a monster in the ring. Unstoppable fury.

have to disagree. i think his size would be a disadvantage if he fought the more elite welters of all time including robinson, napoles and leonard

Robinson at WW is the one I come to think of. He was after all unbeaten in some 100 fights there.

Gomez would have wrecked Fenech at 122.

another way i'm looking at the question is: in their weight class, what fighters would you significantly favour over all opposition, in any era? maybe it's being too liberal with the question but unbeatable is hard to wrap my head around

Ricky Hatton @140lbs was bloody close to unbeatable. :smoke

Hitman Hatton did smash teh **** outta Tszyu, Castillo, Urango, Malignaggi And Lazcano.

Ricky was SHOT in 2009 when Manroid Pacroid beat him.
