Who ranks higher as an ATG, hitman Hearns or Roy Jones jr?

Excactly, we're judging them off what they did. Well Hearns DID fight the BEST of his era. Jones with the exception of Hopkins and Toney did not, by fault or not. Even if the three UK fighters were in UK, he did not fight them and Hearns victories over Duran and Benetiz IMO is slightly better than Jones' over Hopkins and Toney.

And Im sure if people knew that BErnard Hopkins would go on to dominate the middleweight division, that Roy Jones dominating him with one hand would have been a superfight aswell

154lb Duran is better then a 160 Hopkins and 168 Toney? Really? Did you really just say that?

 

Toney came in with an excuse and looked terrible. He was already having weight trouble and Jones knew it. Hopkins still was not great at the time, and so he dominated with one hand. Roy is not a Thomas Hearns caliber fighter and never was. Hearns had an iconic thing about him where superfights found him and he signed up for them. Jones avoided them. You can make a face put the exasperation look, but Jones does not compare to Hearns record of fighting all the greats he did at division where they had won a world title. No Toney and Hopkins do not compare to Benitez and Duran. Toney and Hopkins when they fought Jones don't even compare to Virgil Hill when Hearns beat him. Jones had the talent but not the heart. Hearns had the heart and was an icon.

 

Duran was a champion at 154 and beat a good champ in Davey Moore to get that title. Then Hearns beat him!!! The whole thing here is heart and fighting the best and Hearns did that and Jones didn't.

Hopkins wasnt great because he was fighting Roy Jones Jr. After he got done getting whipped by Roy he became great. Funny how that works?

The Roy that fought Hopkins vs the Hearns that fought Hagler would dominate Hearns.

I know more about Hearns and Jones than you ever will. Hearns is great and more iconic. The man fought wars and had superfights and Jones was a complete waste of great skills. Hearns used everything he had and put it all on the line.. If you cannot see that then you don't appreciate boxing at all.

 

you really think Jones could fight Hearns the way Hagler did? I should put the laughing faces after that comment. Hagler had guts and skill and heart and it took that to beat Hearns. Jones did not have heart. It would have been very hard for Jones to beat a Hearns just on that fact alone. Hagler came in saying I am going to take punches to land. When would Jones do that? The guy lacked the heart of a real champion which was his weakness and for avoiding competition.

to quote Larry Holmes! Jones Jr. cannot carry Hearns jock strap!! Jones was a front running coward with great skills but no heart!! Hearns was a legend with heart and spirit.

 

His win over Duran is better in terms of dominance and where he sits P4P. Jones didn't KO neither Jones nor Hopkins and Hopkins did rather well against Jones. Hearns demolished Duran cold which never happened not even from Hagler or Leonard. After Hopkins and Toney, Jones fought nothing but bums up to Tarver with Griffin in between.

And Jones beat a severly drained Toney, something everyone likes to bash Pac for.

Yeah of course you have to consider his losses and fights where he looked bad when making this decision. Thats what makes this close, Hearns had trouble in his career but still fought dominant for another 2 decades, whereas Jones kept fighting and kept losing which of course hurts your resume, and much more than that of hearns.

 

Not even close RJJ fought nobodies.

Hearns is one of my all time favorites so i am probably a little biased lol..
Hearns was able to rack up wins in 5 weight divisions, (winning major titles in 4 and minor titles in 1), have been in some legendary fights and was fighting in argueably better divisions than Jones did..
