Never giving up no matter what.

You can see guys taking a beating and thinking 'They are brave' but they have settled in their head there going to go the distance and last it rather than win. I love a fighter who just keeps trying to win no matter what.

Marciano. But Arguello in the first Pryor fight is one of the best examples.

For example Barney Ross was brave going the distance with Armstrong but he ddint want to win by the end, and I love Ross, but I really admire a fighter who is just never beat.

Bad ass knock out power. Boxing is supposed to be martial art, i can't stand shoe shiners. Punch effectively or get the **** out imo.

Spain breeds fighting bulls. Which country produces the most fighters with that spirit?

Im not sure how to sum this quality up. So i'll call it the 'Just gets in the ring and does his ****, no ****ing around' quality.

Guys like Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Kostya Tzsyu

Flash always said "When Teddy Brenner talks boxing I listen"
    Brenner always said "Great fighters
    get hurt and fight harder"
But you already knew that didn't you JG?

What many in here described as wil or character. I call it spirit though.

Another thing I am a sucker for are right hands. I love beautiful executed right hands. One of the reasons why I love Schmeling and Hopkins and admire Louis, Arguello and Hearns.

What makes me a fan of a fighter is not just about his skils, ability, spirit and in-ring-behaviour but also how he behaves outside of it. I can´t stand loudmouths and trashtalkers - mostly - I love fighters who behave humble, respectful but still confident. Fighters with the perfect balance of pride and dignity. Like Max Schmeling and Floyd Patterson and Joe Louis. I know I´m a hypocrite there because I am a huge fan of Duran, Hopkins and Jack Johnson and neither of them was/is a quite guy with good manners but with them it´s somehow different - at least for me. With Duran and Hopkins it clearly was/is as if a fight started once the contracts were signed and they would often start it by beeing disrespectful and rude - even so I think with Duran it just was his spiit while with Hopkins it is calculated. Once the fight is over the respect and manners are back on. With Johnson it was different, he had to be loud to get fights in the beginning, louder than others. And I think he used it as a weapon before fights too, to get into heads. And it was defense mechanism against the racism of his time. Anyway, I think you guys get what I mean.
