'The BBC have turned down coverage of the World Amateur Boxing Championship - Sky likely to pick it up' - from David McConachie's Twitter page.

If my memory serves me right, McConachie (Primetime boss) is the man responsible for the television distribution of AIBA events worldwide - so a reliable source.

That's right, Ryle certainly said so earlier this year.

A weird enough typo alright, spelling Eduard Gutknecht as Alexander Dimitrenko .

Whatever about that, I'm unhappy he's submitted an article continuing the myth that Johnny Caldwell is the holder of some sort of Irish record for fights unbeaten or 'winning streak' (as is mentioned in the article). A simple look back through the last few pages in this thread would prove that, that simply isn't the case, and infact I'd question whether Johnny has submitted his article knowing that the topic of discussion in it is complete hogwash.

Supposedly 15 lads going away to Assisi on Friday morning, a day before the World Champo squad is named.
The boys to head away are doubling up in some cases, including Sheahan and McLaughlin, Nevin and McCullagh, O'Neill and Quigley. Moylette and Ward going to, haven't heard bout DJ Joyce or Hickey.

I think if RTE take the World ams in it will be on the net than on tv. Is there not going to be streaming online via the AIBA website?

Groves has signed with Hearn so that is a possibility. Although Groves doesn't bring a lot to the table. He should fight Sartison imo.

McCloskey saying Khan wouldn't risk fighting him again. :patsch FFS, he needs a big mug of STFU. Cringe worthy stuff. As bad as Haye saying Wlad wouldn't risk rematching him. I always liked McCloskey, but since the Khan fight he has come across as a bit of a twat. I still hope he beats Prescott but if he keeps coming out with this shite, I'll honestly be indifferent to him.
