I understand that Thomas Adamek is some sort of national hero in Poland. In a recent fight in Poland, Krzysztof Włodarczyk was apparently given a gift decision win over visiting Puerto Rican Francisco Palacios. (Has anyone ever gone in to Poland and won a fight? Can't say a lot of big fights go down in Poland, but seriously, has it ever happened? Nothing against Poland, I'm just asking.) Suppose Adamek runs around the ring and survives, Haye-like but without the flops, against Vitali. Its a lacklustre fight, but it's clear to most everybody that Vitali is the one landing the punches. Nothing really clean, but he's throwing and occasionally landing arm punches. Adamek is moving and mainly surviving but somehow managing to look busy. The crowd is going wild any time Adamek hits air as Vitali backs away. Wild applause of 50,000 proud poles! Is Vitali in danger of losing an unfair decision here? Or am I missing some sort of Ukranian-Polish dynamic that makes this unlikely? Why did Vitali agree to the venue? What does he know? (Why do I care? Because I put VK in several parlays months ago assuming this was a sure thing only for it to then dawn on me that this thing is in Poland)
If Adamek got some BS decision Vitali would just leave the ring with the belt and tell everyone to **** off. And to be honest there really is not much anybody could do if Vitali didn't hand the belt back, especially with his bro being there. But mainly because nobody is ****ing crazy enough to try to force Vitali to do something. Adamek wouldn't even be able to do anything either. Either way, Adamek won't be getting the belt.
Of course he's in danger of getting robbed. He's fighting the underdog national hero on his home turf. The crowd is going to be insanely supporting Adamek. Even if the judges are neutral, that can be very, very persuasive. I imagine Vitali is looking to take it out of the judges' hands.
Adamek does not choose judges idiots...stop this BS Palacious was punching gloves all night and he was avoiding fight so judges said fuk off to him, next time you want belt try do some punching
Klitschkos are Ukrainian (next door) and they fight out of Germany (next door). I doubt we'll see a 'robbery'.
Cunningham took the belt in Poland from Wlod in the rematch. I cant say much about Wlod vs Palacios as i have not seen the fight. I certainly hope anything like this doesnt happen as Pro Polish Boxing is still in it's infancy and cant afford a huge fight like this to end in bull****.As for me personally i would not want my favorite fighter to have a hollow victory.
Wlod vs Palacios was an awful, awful robbery. That doesn't mean that Poland is any worse than say, the US or UK for robberies though. Vitali shouldn't have too much to worry about in that regard.
Krzysztof Włodarczyk vs Francisco Palacios was without a doubt the biggest robbery I've ever seen. It was literally an easy shutout win for Palacios on any unbiased scorecard. The only people that could have given a round to Wlod were the paid off judges who managed to find 7 for him and select few poles on this site who insist he won 2 rounds which is nonsense. I'm not a Palacios fan at all, me and bro watched the fight and were shocked at how terrible both guys were and that it was for a championship (embarassing). So yeah if Adamek miraculously doesn't get KO'd he very well might get a decision, if he stays on his feet it's impossible for him to do any worse than Wlod vs Palacios.
