I think that what gives credibility to the tourney is the fighters not the belt. And if he would not have give it he would been strip and the belt would have been out of the tourney. I think, even if I have no proof of that, that its why Showtime showed Kessler/Bouadla and it will show Kessler/Steiglitz. Because Kessler gave the belt back to the tourney.
I was thinking of the 2 personnalities he seems to have. Sometimes a good logical poster, sometimes more stubborn. He is very sensitive today, the day we learn Kessler will receive less money to fight Stieglitz than to fight Bute.
It is still the right route for Kessler IMO. And for the record... Kessler is still a bigger star than Bute.

They fought Kessler and Sauerland was desperate :deal Kessler duked no one. Sauerland thinks 3-4 fights a head. The money Sauerland wants for Kessler to fight Bute may not exist in today's boxing. Some of you guys were saying Kessler would make more money facing Stieglitz. Well, it was not true. You should forget the Kessler-Calzaghe purse. First, it was on HBO, not Showtime. Different kind of money. Second, the fight was not profitable for HBO so that kind of money won't be seen soon in a fight between 2 non-American. The offer was not enough? Maybe. But if Sauerland expects too much, Kessler won't be in a great fight ever from now.
What's the situation like with Sat.1 in Denmark, would that have made Danish PPV an option? Stieglitz has had his last two fights on that German private TV channel, I wonder why they didn't make a deal with them then.
Sat1 is not as accessible as ARD, but still enough to probably ruin a PPV. A deal with Sat1 would not generate the kind of money as is generated from the deal with ARD that Sauerland has.
I still think that Kessler can generate more money fighting then Bute, but that could all change if Bute beats Ward or Kessler.:bbb
