IMO, Ben Henderson will obliterate Frankie Edgar if/when they meet.

Frankie Edgar is a very, very good fighter. He uses his versatility to outwork and outfight his opponents to decision victories. Whenever his opponent relies too heavily on one aspect of his game (like when BJ tried to box him or when Maynard tries to outmuscle him), Edgar can mix up quick, crisp boxing with fast takedowns, and outpoint them due to his variety.

I firmly believe that even though I scored Edgar-Maynard II for Maynard by a point, Gray has missed his chance to beat Frankie again. Edgar underestimated Maynard's stand-up and punching power, got caught, but then managed to hang on, and if the fight was scored purely on rounds 2-5, Edgar would've won. Next time, I expect Frankie to be more cautious early on, to avoid getting clipped, and use his sharper, faster boxing to take a decision.

But what would happen if Frankie met someone who was also a solid all-rounder with excellent speed, but who was bigger, heavier, stronger, much more powerful, and arguably even more explosive than him?

He'll get smashed to bits, and probably sent packing down to 145. This is what I believe will happen when after the 3rd fight with Maynard, he gets paired with Ben Henderson.

    Thoughts? :bbb

i thought that when henderson was in the wec, the petis guida result made me think again but i reckon henderson has the potential to be the best in the division, the only person who has a chance of beating henderson at the moment is petis imo

I was blown away by how good he was against Jim Miller. If you look at his last three wins against Cerrone, Bocek and Miller, this guy really is on fire. No-one has ever treated Jim Miller like Henderson did, not Edgar or Maynard or anyone else. I backed Henderson to win a UD in the Prediction League, but did not expect him to dominate and punish Miller like that, as Miller is a very, very good fighter himself. Pettis' style would always be a problem for Ben I think, but Edgar can't replicate that style IMO. Henderson would beat down on Edgar.

Hendo has quality striking, quality jits and quality wrestling. You can beat him if you are an expert/specialist in one area and you can keep it in that area. Pettis striking was first class. Every time Henderson fights he brings it and he will fight wherever the fight goes. Standing, grappling, in a sub attempt, from bottom etc No matter what, he will look to bang and HARD!

Frankie however also has top class striking, if not so much power. He has a wrestling background and I think his jits is improving all the time. He survives attempts, locks on his own and working with Almeida should only help him get better.

i was actually expecting him to do well against miller, since the petis fight i always thought him and petis were 1 and 2 in the division, his composure is second to none and the crazy thing about the miller fight it was pretty high tempo miller kept it entertaining and made him work yet he was barely out of breathe after the 3 rounds, i could see the petis rematch getting made next as we wait for edgar and nard and the winner of that getting guida first:-(

Bendo's performance against Miller was incredible. Definitely the most impressive of his career.

I would favor him in a rematch against Pettis. The first fight was pretty much dead even going into the final round. I think he would avoid the standup more than he did in their first meeting, and employ a gameplan similar to Guida's, but with intent to finish. His GnP is some of the nastiest in the game.

This will be a great fight, if Hendo can get him to the ground for a significant period, then he can take this

I was blown away by Henderson the other night. Forget Maynard and Edgar, for me the top 2 in the division are Henderson and Melendez.

Pettis is better than him imo but he didnt beat him with much he had the edge at the standup so he kept it standing.
A good fighter should be able to keep the fight to his advantage

That "showtime" kick won Pettis the fight.

Edgar is the hardest guy in MMA to hold down, I doubt Bendo could manage it as much as I love him. Edgar gets up when he gets taken down and outclasses Bendo on his feet IMO.

Other than Maynard the biggest threat to Edgar is Guillard.

Maybe my memory is playing some kind of trick, but I think I remeber a fight, I think it was against Cerone, but maybe not....anyway, Henderson was getting is ass kicked....until he caught the guy with a vicious guillotine.

    So I don't know man...TBH..

    Rather see him fight Guillard.
