You cant blame guerrero though, if its a legit shoulder injury he cant do anything about it. But it really sucks for us fans and also for him and maidana who basically wasted time training for nothing.
I was looking forward to this one as much as any other fight. I guess Maidana won't face a replacement either since the fight was taking place in San Jose with Guerrero being the draw. Too bad
This is an absolute disaster, this could have been the fight of the year. Will Maidana wait or find somone else?
Early indication is a torn rotator cuff, so no he didn't. Apparently they will try to reschedule if Guerrero's recovering time is reasonable although it appears doubtful.
Maidana probably pulled a Tonya Harding, and batted his eyelashes seductively at some hick goon to persuade him to take a crowbar to Guerrero's shoulder.
I don't really care to get all tinfoil hat on this issue, but I'm inclined to wonder whether this is a move to keep Maidana occupied until Khan leaves the division. It didn't sound like the WBA or Golden Boy were keen on giving him a rematch anyway, but now they can act like he must defend his "regular" title before being granted a shot at the super champion.
