Amir Khan: I Stopped Ortiz in 2 rounds in the Amateurs

You got to understand a stoppage in the amateurs is not like a stoppage on this level in the pros.

 

Gotta love Khan, soon he'll be as hated as Mayweather even though he's trying to come off as a humble lad from Bolton.

 

It's pretty common knowledge. Khan has a waaayyy harder time with Ortiz in a pro fight.

 

Interesting.... doesn't really matter now that they're pros, but it's an interesting fact I didn't know about.

Who's the cuban that whipped his ass in the amateurs? I remember rooting for khan at the time

 

If anything it's a little more impressive - bigger more padded gloves and amateur headgear.

 

Mario Kindelan was his name. I wouldnt really call it an 'ass whoopin' as he held his own to be fair. Khan beat him a few months later though.

 

Not really because you dont have to be hurt. Back in 2004 if there was a 20 point gap between the fighters before the last round the fight was stopped. Still though pretty impressive to do that in 2 rounds event though at that time the amateur judges were very button happy.

 

Khan has been saying this for years, yes he RSCH won over Ortis, but he never knocked him out.

 

They would stop the fight easier in the amateurs. But still cool to know.

 

Hopefully his come out fight at 147 will be Ortiz. Keeps saying he respects Ortiz yet continues to talk ****. Someone from Roach's camp will target him after Mayweather whips his ass I'm sure.

Probably just trying to continue to hype up a future match with Mayweather though.
