Nobody cares about belts........ people know when the best are willing to fight the best. IBO has no meaning except for those employed by them and C lvl fighters pretending to be a world champs.
True fight fans dont care, you are spot on about that. They mean something to the fighters, otherwise they wouldnt be fighting for them. Some fighters absolutely need them...agbeko for eg. Coincidentally, i just read an interview with jeff mayweather. He held an IBO belt.
Having Holmes as champion gave the IBF some legitacy upon it's inception. The WBO has a fairly dodgy lineage. I still don't particularly rate it.
It has had some good champions and championship fights to be fair. But here in Australia they have sanctioned some shocking ''World Title'' fights.
Less talk about the 'title' and more talk about the stoush itself but manny held the title ..so there you go haha 2009-05-02138Ricky Hatton140 This content is protected - This content is protected - This content is protected MGM Grand, Las Vegas, Nevada, United StatesWKO212 time: 2:59 | referee: Kenny Bayless | judge: Michael Pernick 10-7 | judge: C.J. Just some trivia here, not trying to prove a point and you can read into it whatever you like........ The top ten Pay per view fights that fans obviously wanted to see, only 2 did'nt involve world championship titles. 7 of the top 10 involved WBC titles. 4 " " '' " " IBF titles 3 " " " " " WBA titles 2 " " " " " IBO titles.
Is the WBA the original? i fancied Ali held the WBA shortly after the death of the singular World Title
Singular world title died a lot earlier than most think.... The WBA was the first of the "moderns" and came about after the demise of the NBA with their scandals. Around 1922 I think
