Good to hear you're back training again! I don't think you were a level below DOJ. Him being part of the elite squad and being able to box full time was probably the difference. Same way Darren o' neill could never beat Sutherland (yet he could be level with him for most of the fight). You could always tell in the last round who the full time boxer was (elite training= better fitness).

Hopefully you stick at it anyway.:good I reckon the 56kg spot could be up for grabs if Nevin goes pro after the olympics

Are the lads heading to Italy this week?? If so Adam Nolan could be jsut getting in some quality training for the "World Police Fire Games in New York" which I know at one stage he did plan on competing in. They begin on the 26th.

They're heading first thing, nice and early. Boxing Council meeting is at 11am at the Stadium on Saturday, if anyone wants to protest, there's the place

adams a top bloke but think it may be a waste of the chaps time going to the camp, only one of 2 boxers is going be picked :p or a box off been called between the 2

Well I think European Bronze medallist Tyrone McCullough is worth a mention, although his style can be horrible to watch. But asides Nevin and McCullough I would agree.

I'd like to see a box-off between Hickey and Moylette if Ray is fit. As it stands it would be very harsh on either man not to be selected and something needs to be done to separate them.

There's a Jackal-sized hole at 56kg alright. How would he fare against Nevin, leaving two years' worth of professional development aside?

It's very hard to say. He seemed to have hit new heights against Joyce in the 2009 national final. With him being on the Irish squad then and travelling to tournaments such as the europeans he would have gotten better again (in terms of an amateur style)! So he may not have had 2 years of professional development; but in my opinion it would have been nearly as good as. It's full time training and top quality sparring after all with the irish squad! My money would have been on the jackal to out-rough and out-tough nevin

He's said on here before (I think) that Nevin was an absolute hoor to spar. Come on Carlos get back here - or has BamBam scared you off?
Surely a bit of man-love, albeit locked in a sex dungeon while being rubbed up by a dude in a gimp mask, is not enough to keep a man away...

You'd imagine he has very little time for ESB when he's training for Kiko:D Ya i'd say Nevin is a **** to fight/spar. He is class in fairness. So hard to hit i'd say!

ah yeah tyrones a good lad i didnt mean it like that its just apart from nevin or tyrone theres no competetion in the weights unlike all the other weights!
there shud be a box off in the 4-5 weights where there is a dispute so there is no arguments, if a fella is going be selected at least have em beat a boxer in the ring and not by a number of votes!
