Ok Ricky(and his team) get a lot of stick on here for the level of fighter he has defended his world title against against...but are they any worse than Haye's opponents at HW...?

Martinez win and especially was certainly more impressive than Dave's effort against Valuev. Admittedly Haye had to overcome the huge obstacle of size difference but skills-wise Vaulev has to be one of the worst HW's in a long long time.

Evensen and Laryea are both dodge as hell opposition for a "world title" but surely combined they can be judges equal to or better than Ruiz who was a decent fighter in his day(which is long gone). Ricky dominated both, showing he was miles better than them yet Haye struggled after the early KDs and couldnt put him away very well.
The Cook shambles is quite comparable to the Audley shambles, but at least we weren't having our intelligence insulted to the degree that Sky did pre-Audley. At least Cook had held some decent titles in his day.

My question is...is Ricky's reign any worse that Hayes...? No, probably not. In fact, Ricky has no choice who he fights really, seeing as who his promoter is but Haye, being his own promoter and manager did.(Mandatories excepted)
You may all agree with me anyway. Minor rant over.

    Poll added.

I am a Ricky Burns fan i must say, also have been a Haye fan right from when he was on the BBC. Right now, not so keen on Haye but i remember his CW days well.

Billy you are pathetic. Neither you nor Haye are genuine 'World champions', but why do you have to act childish and bitter all the time?!?

If it's reign and defences then the Valuev and Martínez don't count.

Ruiz and Harrison are both better than all the guys whom Ricky has faced in his reign. And then there's Wlad of course (who won anyway, but it was a defence).

TBF I think it is acceptable for the team to use the pronoun We. A bit like the Queen can use the Royal We.

I've more repect for Burns cos I think he beat the geniune champ at the weight to win his title his defences though have provided UKGold comedy. I think you'd struggle to put the pygmy Layera and Tom Daley in the top 50 at super feather. Who knows after more than a year we may get a live opponent in Broner, but I wont hold my breath

You're stretching it here, comparing a terrible 'reign' with another awful reign that wasn't even intended to be a reign, just a precursor to one fight.

At least we know who the **** Ruiz is even if people say he was past it, least he's done something in the sport. Laryea is an Afrobum and we'll never see Evensen again.

Ricky Burns is a role model world champion imo. lets stop hating and respect what he has done. come back from defeats and proved his class. anyone in the gym would know the kid is a hard grafter and very talented. big credit to billy nelson, ive heard ricky is as fit as anyone in the game, just shows what u can do if u are dedicated to the sport. critics in the uk ie fans and people need to support and get behind all the current fighters. too often i read on here negative comments, its a shame coz to live the life of a fighter is very hard, politics in the sport stops many fighters from fighting who they want win or lose. tv ie bbc itv sky sports are killing the game, we show more interest in motor sport, horse riding, and darts then we do about pro boxing. a pro footballer will train everyday 10 till 1pm and weather he starts saturday will prob earn £10.000 a month a boxer trains exactly the same and maybe collects that after 3 fights. my point is that lets get behind the sport as fans and bring boxing back to the big screen. lots of love
