What doesn't translate to boxing is that if you kept your hands that low..99% of the boxers would get ktfo.

Has Mike ever achieved anything in competitive fighting?

This guy really seems to have done it all. Pretty awesome.

    [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jai_White[/ame]

"He is an accomplished martial artist, holding seven black belts in [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotokan"]Shotokan[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tae_Kwon_Do"]Tae Kwon Do[/ame], Kobudo, [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goju_Ryu"]Goju Ryu[/ame] with renowned Master Eddie Morales, [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tang_Soo_Do"]Tang Soo Do[/ame], [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_martial_arts"]Wushu[/ame] and [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyokushin"]Kyokushin[/ame],[3][4] with a specific focus in Kyokushin (although his style incorporates aspects of many different martial arts forms).[5] White started martial arts training at the age of seven.
White is a former [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teacher"]teacher[/ame].[6] He cites his history in education as the reason why, despite his personal love for the music genre on "a lot of levels", he cannot "in good [conscience]" have a positive opinion on [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hip_hop_music"]hip hop[/ame] or "excuse some of [its] pervasive and destructive elements", due to his experience with youngsters who had difficulty seeing the difference between it and real life.[6]"

Yeah...but competitive was the question right. With the exception of Kyokushin (even if they don't punch to the face - in most variations of it that I've seen) the rest of the martial arts that he's studied seem to be pretty weak. Seriously, youtube 'shotokan sparring' or 'tang-soo-do sparring'. Mostly what you get is a bunch of people point fighting and slapping hap haphazardly at one another.

That said, he is a pretty intimidating dude and could certainly kick my ass. But it seems to me that as far as competitive fighting (that is to say real fighting against someone legitimately trying to hurt you) his resume seems pretty thin.

White has belts in bull**** non competitive arts, and what he's trying to coach a pro fighter to do there is throw an arm punch with zero power. Kimbo should have ***** slapped him.

he reiterated what b-hop told rashad....even if u dont hit with full power, the shock of getting hit sets up the full body power punch.

straight punches are always gonna get through more than looping shots

he's just sayin dont load up on your punches. throw em straight with all your body weight behind it, but dont wind your punches up. thats why the short punches are usually the most effective in boxing. shortest route to the target = lights out.

Very good demonstration by Michael. When you punch straight like that, you can also bring your hand back in the quickest straight line and protect your chin so you don't get caught in between punching.

I'd like to see him spar Kimbo for real though, for a few rounds and see what he could do in a real boxing match.
