Dirrell was standing so far he had to take a running leap to get his punch in. Also, when Hatton and Floyd got closed yeah, Floyd would quickly tie Hatton up but not the same extent where Dirrell was throwing both arms around Froch where not one exchange of punches were even thrown. This did not happen in Mayweather and Hatton fight. Comparing apples to oranges mate.

He was standing so far and had to run in and leap to throw punches all through the first 9 rounds.
