I never said he was the same fighter in 2002 than in 1987/88, I simply said Lewis was as old as Tyson were then they fought, and what people forget is that Tyson DUCKED Lewis when Lewis was his mandatory challenger, instead Tyson fought Holyfield because he thought it would be a easier fight than Lewis. BTW "**** head" class act. You also said that you have been watching fights since ali/holmes - wow you have been watching fights for around 30 years and you still no **** all about boxing, i don't think boxing is for you mate if your still clueless about the sport.

just finished watching tyson's whole career (again) and he isn't as good as a lot of people make out with his bobbing and weaving. every time he was in with someone decent or had a bit of skill, he struggled.

when people say tyson would of wiped out his opponent in a couple of rounds because of his power... why then, didn't he do it to ALL the opponents he fought?

people here do talk some ****. lewis is a much, much better fighter than tyson could ever dare to become. plus, his style was made for lennox.

the jab of lewis would of made the bobbing and weaving of tyson unsuccessful. it's his worst nightmare. then lewis brings in the right hand and the uppercut. lewis has the arsenal to shut tyson down... tyson has NOTHING in his to shut lewis down.

lewis pretty much dominates, and stops tyson between 8 and 10.

    EASY!

Tyson never beat anyone remotely close to Lewis level. That is all.

    "Tyson would destroy Lewis"
"Lewis doesnt stand a chance against the monster Tyson was in his prime"
Where the **** do you get this sh*t from?
Tony Tucker was able to go the distance and win a couple of rounds against Tyson.
Why shouldnt Lewis be able to outbox him?
Douglas Ko'ed him, why shouldnt Lewis be able to?
Journeyman James Smith was able to go the distance with Tyson too..
The only super heavyweight that i can think off that Tyson was able to KO was club fighter Tyrell Biggs..
Of course my arguments is based on foe's Tyson struggled against, you can say that Oliver and Hasim knocked out Lewis, as a counter argument..
Im not counting Tyson out in this match at all.. I just think that sometimes people just think that Tyson would destroy everything putted infront him, not named Ali.. Based on victories over Pinklon Thomas, Tucker, (old) Larry Holmes, Berbick.. Who were all good fighters on Mike's resume.. But we are talking about a big talented Elite HW here..
I also know that Resume and H2H matchups are very different.. But i am just trying to put things in perspective..

this has been done to death.

Doesnt matter how many delusional fools on here argue otherwise, no way prime lewis beats prime tyson

Tyson mid fight KO, possibly even earlier

yes lewis was 1 yr older than tyson....but fighters peak at differnt times....tyson peaked 86 to 91 roughly..........and lennox 96 to 2000 roughly.............and lennox didnt have to take the 4 million step aside cash for tyson to fight bruce seldon......but he took it like a thief in the nite....but by 96 lewis woulda beaten tyson already/ tyson was not the same fighter since june 28 1991.................FACT:thumbsup

What the dude before me meant was, if you have seen the Tyson-Ruddock fights, you would realise that those wars effectively diminished Ruddock as a fighter. He simply was never the same man again.

The Tyson that fought Lewis was frustrated, outboxed, and beaten by a bigger, better man, just as the 86 Tyson would have been.

The Tyson that fought Lewis, was undisputed champion at the peak of his powers, 15 years before he met Lewis....nuff said. That fight was meaningless....

Prime Tyson was a totally different animal, and was impossible to keep off of you over the distance. With his attributes, his sheer speed and power, the only way to defeat such a man would be able to absorb his biggest bombs, and to slowly break Tyson's confidence and will....unfortunately, Lewis would not be capable of this. That kind of task is best left to the likes of Ali
