i know it is ( i'm british) i was just pointing out to the idiot who said joe spent a lot of time fighting outside of the uk.
I saw Calzaghe fight a a decent fighter in Robin Reid ....a live BRitish fighter with a pulse.....And many people though Reid one....Reid had a great right hand....FROCH has an exception right hand an an unorthodox style .....I see Froch suprising us all and winning Calzaghe... Froch is one rangy guy who has the perfect weapons for a southpaw its not as if Joe has home advantage like all his fights...on top of that FROCH is mentally the toughest dude i have seen in the modern era bar Pacman
I dont know of many who felt Reid won except for Calzaghe haters. Many felt Calzaghe was a clear winner. Reid was a good fighter and back then it would have been a tough fight to call between Froch and Reid. Due to styles Calzaghe would beat Froch very easily, I believe. Still like all fantasy match ups we can never really know, just imagine if Douglas had never fought Tyson in his hey day. We would have all laughed if someone said who wins between them
Prime Calzaghe destroys him, wins nearly every round, the Calzaghe of the Hopkins and Jones fights still wins on points, say 8 rounds to 4..
At the time Froch hadnt done anything of note and was only a British champ. It would have been the best SMW ever who had gone up to LHW facing the British SMW who would have had to gone up to face him. It would have been a massive mismatch, where Froch had no LHW resume. Calzaghe / Jones was the LHW champ against the #6 contender. Many picked Jones to beat Calzaghe, nobody would have favoured Froch
you can't just confuse timelines like that. froch was not a big name at the time he was calling out Joe.
Joe UD..probably 10-2..I think Joe' would be throwing his hands more and landing more...I know Froch has an edge no the power but Joe has those quick hands with better than avg movement.. Joe by UD
:huh there was nothing wrong with that post. there's something wrong with your boxing knowledge, though. :deal
atsch go back and read the posts again. we are talking about when froch started calling joe out. not now.
see your point as a victory over Froch wouldnt have garnered much respect for Calzaghe at the timr. however this was the same reason joe couldnt get a big fight for years. fighting Jones was a disgrace of a fight. Calzaghe was sticking his head through his guard showboating doing anything except really finish off his opponent. He said in his own autobiography he wouldnt fight Jones. Calzaghe never really followed the usual career path though. Calzaghe would have easily beaten pavlik in hindsight. he really should of fought Dawson or Pavlik instead of Jones both would have given his opponent their first loss.
