He fought Abraham in November 2009 i think.. He said that he would stay in shape so he could return anytime he wanted to.. I believe he is 32 right now..
In his later days at MW I wasn't so keen on Jermain. He was v lucky to get the win against Spinks and I was really happy when Pavlik got the win over him. Since he moved up to SMW, I have developed a real soft spot for him. Despite what Froch says, he totally outclassed him til he run out of gas and was unlucky against Abraham. Saying that, it was the right decision for him to leave the Super 6. Let his wife and kids enjoy their time with their dad/husband with his faculties intact.
People exaggerate the Froch fight - he was winning on points going into the 12th, but after he went down the 2nd time, even if he had got up and the ref had let the fight go the distance it would of been a 10-7 round and Froch would of won a MD. People really exaggerate that it was like a Rocky style win for Froch, but he had come on strongly in the second half of the fight and was doing very well.
FROCHS A BADMAN!! I don't care what the scorecards were sayin, the was some search and destroy ****!! that was some warrior last man standing Jaws ****!! this is what boxing needs.....not quitters like Judah or runners like Direll real old school fighters who refuse to lose!!
Before round 12 the scores vs Taylor - Froch was 1 up or equal. Taylor simply fought a tougher guy. Odla, Hopkins, Jones and Taylor all lost to a eurobum...................face it...........................:bbb
He's supposed to be coming back at middleweight. He should, however, call it a career. He did well, now it's time to retire and endorse the sport.
If he comes back he should drop back down to 160 and face someone like Daniel Geale or if he stops at 168 maybe face Pavlik again.
If he comes back... he should stay away from anyone with any KO power. Other than that, I think he could outbox Ward for a decision victory.
People can say what they want about Jermaine Taylor how hes HBO made how he was given gift decisions (its not like Jermaine scored the fights) but fact remains he fought tough fight after tough fight and really ducked no one. Then some people get upset when guys duck other guys but when the decide to fight the best and lose some they are automatically garbage, exposed or a bum Look who he has a fought throughout his career: Wright (At the time this was a very dangerous fight) Pavlik (While still unknown to some was undefeated and confidence sky high) Froch (Super Six Finalist) Hopkins (x2) (Do I really need to explain and this is a younger Bhop on a real big winning streak at MW) Abraham (see Wright) Note: Froch and Pavlik have not tasted the canvas since fighting Taylor and both have pretty good chins. And get this he was interested in fighting Calzaghe had he beat Pavlik, was to fight Ward until he pulled out which would have been two more extremely difficult fights Seriously some of you guys need to lay off Taylor who was actually good for boxing in fighting the best constantly isn't that what you guys wanted?
Honestly, I think he should call it a career. His life though. Supposedly he was running around at 164 a couple months ago, so if he can make 160 comfortably that would be the best route (so long as he avoids Martinez and Abraham if he comes back down). I think 168 and 175 would be a terrible idea. Of the guys you listed I would favor Andrade, Diaconu, Campill, Cleverly, and Shumenov. Berrio, Mack, and Green are toss ups for me and I wouldn't feel comfortable at all if I ended up picking Taylor. I don't dislike the guy, but he should stay down at 160 if he can.
I like Taylor but im not expecting much from his comeback especially at middleweight. Best of luck to him mind
