Was watching UFC90 last night mainly to have another look at Spider vs Cote. The one where Cote's knee collapses. Had forgotten how devastating Junior Dos Santos' uppercut was that KOed Fabrico Werdum. Here it is again for those who have forgotten it or may not have seen it -: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5Efb5VPPBU[/ame]
Hope he learns not to leave his chin way up in the air when throwing that punch. If Werdum had better striking and faster hands that Right hand he threw might have put JDS Out. Sort of like when Liddell fought Evans even though Dos Santos chin is alot better it could happen the same way if he continues that bad habit.
Junior is still leaving his Chin wide open and upright when he's on offense and I would fully expect Overeem to capitalize on that if they were to fight. Cain does it, as well, but he has something to fall back on when somebody has the countering chops to take advantage of it, Junior doesn't.
When they met on UFC90 Werdum was felt to be a genuine contender and Junior was a first or second fight novice from memory.
It sure was UFC90 mate. It was a great card too. Alves vs Koscheck was a corker of a stoush and Sherk vs Tyson Griffin was also a beauty.
Overeem is Knocking JDS or Cain the **** out Elite striker Ridiculous strength Experience Great ground game Chin (rewatch the Spong fight) JDS and Cain are getting obliterated :yep
Great power, terrible technique. Can't believe some people say he has the best boxing in MMA. Can't imagine someone like BJ Penn leaving himself so open to a counter.
Yeah, because the greatest boxers in the world never leave themselves open for counters.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtyDlsOO98A[/ame]
The only point I agree with is experience. Though I don't necessarily disagree with the chin comment.
Overeem was getting beat on by werdum... He has nothing for Cain.. Overeem makes K-1 look like a joke This content is protected
Overeem has shitty takedown defense, shitty striking defense, shitty footwork, and a ground game that consists of a guillotine and not much else. And don't even get me started on his Chin, that thing is wet toilet paper and a KO waiting to happen. I would expect him to beat Dos Santos just because of how wide open Junior leaves himself when he goes on the offensive and because he doesn't have any other weapons aside from the stand-up where he's probably the lesser man. I wouldn't, however, expect Overeem to beat Cain because he can't wrestle for ****, Cain's threats standing and with the takedown will keep him even more off-balance than Werdum's shitty gameplan, and once on the mat that Fragile China Chin is going to crack like a hard boiled egg.
Junior would obliterate Overeem. JDS is a much better boxer than Overeem, who has power but basically clubs his way forward like an angry Lurch out of the Addams Family. You have this one ass-backwards. JDS KO1 Ubereem. :smoke
