Why is Chagaev such a big underdog vs Povetkin?

So Chagaev who has only been down once in his career (against Klychko who was stepping on his foot at the time too) is going to get stopped inside 4 rds, makes sense

 

If that was Chagaev 2007 version or earlier, I would favor him. Now I think that Povetkin wins a clear decision. However Povetkins recent victories dont say too much about him.

 

Anybody that wat hes boxing knows he shot at the eliye level. Its all started with drummond. He looked likt ****.

Povetkin is basically a windmill. he comes in and throws a lot of flurries thats it. he got schooled by then fat Eddie for couple of rounds until he was gassed
his amateur record might look great, beat everyone he has faced, never lost an impotant fight etc but the level of his opposition in the amateurs was just awful. Chagaev beat much better fighters in his amateur run.. Chags is more accurate, has an much better eye for taking opportunities, better counter punching, better defense game, technically way better as well etc..

 

He looked terrible in his fights after Waldo!!

 

when has chagaev ever looked good??like i said he always does the bare minimum to win fights..the better the opposition the better he fights...skelton sucks ass he looked horrible..valuev is decent but chagaev done enough to beat him..i personaly thought he won most rounds and should have ud valuev tho

 

Both Chagaev and Povetkin looked horrible in their recent fights. They looked like shot, beaten up fighters that were at the end of their careers, like 39 year old have-beens. Not like red hot challengers in their prime -- like they're supposed to look!

Having said that, Chagaev (to me) looked even worse than Povetkin.

Walker is also one of the best heavyweights. he has one major problem, he has no chin. other than that hes pretty much damn good..

 

walker sucks man..but hes got alot of power..which makes him dangerous...:good

 

Povetkin is a good combination puncher and no chin in boxing history will hold up long under good combos. I just don't think Chagaev at this point can keep Alexander off him......

 

I have it about even. I also don't understand why Chagaev is seen as such an underdog.

As has been said, maybe people now preceive him as being well past his best, but that may or maynot be true.



Both Povetkin and Chagaev are both skilled, fast, and good movers who both will probably try to push the action. That'll be interesting to see which one applies more pressure. I think Povetkin will probably be more of the aggressor.

But on the flip side, both seem to lack impressive knockout power.

I see a very competitive fight with alot of good dramatic moments.

It could go either way, but I am slightly leaning towards Chagaev to beat Povetkin, assuming Chagaev can get close to his old form.

 

No Walker doesn´t suck, hes certainly good.. he can box from the outside using his jab, got very good infight skills as well, decent handspeed, puts very good and explosive combinations together, hes big and comes in good shape etc he has a lot of heart as well.. Helenius who gets a some hype is far worse for example. Walker would definitly make it a top contender if he had half a chin..
