It's difficult to establish any sort of rhythm when your opponent flops to the floor every time you even threaten to throw a strike.

there we have the reem allowing an inferior striker to land his shots, thus proving his chin is indeed solid

who won that fight btw, oh mr selective gif man?

How can you say his chin is solid based on that gif where the punches barley hit him?

They both have massive holes in their games but Junior's I think play more into Overeem's game.

Footwork- Dos Santos is far and away better in this category. Overeem's plodding leaves much to desire as does his proclivity to go straight back from punches rather than circling out and turning his opponent.

Punching- Both have massive power, Junior throws better combinations, and Overeem throws more concise punches leaving him less open to the counter. Junior appears to be faster and little wonder since Overeem is carrying all of that roided bulk but I still like Overeem's ability to launch short hooks from his peek-a-boo stance over Junior's fluid combination punching that leaves his Chin hanging out begging for a counter.

Kicking- Neither are big kickers but I'll go with Overeem because he's thrown some nasty low kicks before and Junior's are a lot less noncommittal.

Clinch- Overeem should be the winner in this category because he's a better pure Thai boxer and he's got a big size advantage and more leverage with which to work. Junior's shown to be competent but I think Overeem edges him.

Defense- Both suck here. Junior throws with no regard for any return fire and he fights hands down and Chin up whereas Overeem hides his Fragile Glass Mandible behind that peek-a-boo defense and generally just covers up and goes straight back a la Rampage Jackson. Junior has head movement but no guard and Overeem has no head movement and an overreliance on covering up.

I wouldn't be surprised if either of them was KOed but I would favor Overeem on the simple basis that he has tons of power, Dos Santos' tendency to drop his hands when throwing invites Overeem's short hooks inside, and in the clinch Overeem should be able to overpower him.

Yeah, that one might actually be interesting, moreso than the one that's on the line next weekend for me, because I'm not really confident on the outcome of this one. We'll do it if the powers that be ever make it happen and I'm definitely NOT confident about that.

Cain is gonna dip the **** outta JDS whenever he feels like it and then pound the **** outta his face when he has him down on the mat

What if both decide to come out throwing punches ala Fedor vs Hendo?

Cains won every fight but 1 by striking
Its not like hes lacking in that department either
People act like JDS is some monster when he couldnt even stop Nelson or Carwin
He whooped the **** outta them, yes, but he couldnt stop em
Cain is a well rounded fighter that has more than enough for JDS

    How can you say that?

If anything, that fight proves that Overeem's chin is still shitty. In the first round Spong hit him with a jab and sent him shuffling backwards. A JAB. If an undersized Tyrone Spong can do that to Overeem, what do you think JDS could do?

I enjoy watching Overeem fight and, if he ever goes up against Junior, I'd bet money on Alistair winning, but his chin has been and continues to be a source of worry for me. Once anyone penetrates his double-forearm defense, Alistair freezes up. He needs to get some head movement going and needs to improve that plodding footwork of his.

He couldnt finish Cheick Kongo AND he got rocked badly in that fight.
Carwin and Nelson are prolly better than anyone on cain list of defeats.

Im not saying JDS doesnt have the power to rock him
But Cain also showed his ability to instantly recover, keep his head and go for the takedown on Kongo too
I dont see any way that JDS stops his takedowns or is able to shoot on Cain and keep him down
I guess we will just have to disagree on this one
But luckily in 3 months we'll get our questions answered
Either way it goes its gonna be a great fight
And its in my home area so I'll be there live
