Could Fish eyes do business with primetime??

With sky leaving p.p.v for the forseeable future and nobody any the wiser on boxnation, any of you guys think he may use his fighters here to get the big stable names headlining big events, obviously we've seen khan have success on primetime lately and could see this happening with maybe his lesser stable stars on smaller shows being headlined by big stateside broadcasts a good example would be sept 17th, would more people pay 15 quid for pbf if we had bellew, degale and smith earlier? :think

 

He'll get battered if he leaves SKY.

 

If ****** got terrestrial TV he wouldn't need PPV for a while. None of his fighters our PPV worthy right now.

Cleverly, Burns and Mitchell the guys at world level are not PPV ready yet even if you put them together. Gavin, DeGale, Saunders, Smith etc still all at least 2 years away.

 

He'll lose the hype machine with Primetime too!

I don't know what sort of profit he would get if he switched.

I still don't know why they can't get terristrial tv, all PPV nonsense didn't exist 30 years ago and the big fights still got made.

 

Ol' fish eyes would take PPV over terrestrial TV any day of the week. Just look at the way he scarpered out from ITV and Setanta for (among MANY other things) their lack of a PPV outlet. The man orgasms at the mere thought of that glorious £14.95.

 

That’s not true at all. Setanta offered a very handsome cash sum to get Calzaghe-Kessler (and all parties did well out of that). They bought an exclusive output deal with Sports Network (which is why we got Haye-Maccarinelli) and assumed when Khan’s ITV contract was up he’d move over to them.

Instead, Frank formed a new company, his current one, and moved Khan to that, leaving him outwith the Setanta deal. They argued, he took his ball over to Sky, Setanta sued him (IIRC) and it all fell to pieces.

Frank’s first Sky PPV (Khan KOd by Prescott, Cook KOd by Martinez…) was an unmitigated flop. But he needed it to even have a hope of reclaiming the money he was now promising Khan.

If ITV offered Frank slots for ok money, I bet he’d take it and mix between Sky and the terrestrial broadcaster.

 

I know all that, hence my 'among many other things' bit. But I still think Setanta's lack of PPV outlet for Khan played a small part in him wanting out of the deal and starting up Frank ****** Promotions. Admittedly it was more to do with him being majorly pissed that they signed Haye and Calzaghe up around that time, and that he didn't want to pay the latter what he owed him (£5m wasn't it?) so liquidated Sports Network.

But I reckon he'd have been more keen to take this new FWP, and Khan as well to Setanta had they been doing PPV's. He probably wouldn't have done, but it'd have given him a bit more to think about when he threw his toys out the pram.

 

I dont give a **** about Frank and what he does. He would be crazy to move to Primetime. If he was to do that it will kill his younger fighters. Who would pay a ppv for a Gavin or Saunders card not many people. He is best off sticking it out and hoping that either Kevin Mitchell gets a World title win or Clev builds up more of a following than he has. clev needs to build up his fanbase in Wales there is a huge market there waiting for a big Clev cards to come to Wales. See how many went out to Calzaghes fights when he was World Champion.

 

Some of u are missing my point, I'm suggesting they build up the upcoming fighters on split ppvs with Khan/usa cards to justify the 15 quid price. Not literally pay 15 pound for a gavin british title fight.

 

Frank wouldnt want any of that or would Khan. If that was to happen Frank would be looking for a 50-50 cut and I cant see Khan giving in to that. Also it doesnt help his fighters. He needs them all on regular Sky so they can build up more of a following than on Primetime.
