Froch has a very good chin. That is a fact.

  3. I remember Froch telling Robert McCracken that it was Kesslers body shots that were killing him in that fight.

Yeah Froch has a great chin its obvious, Johnson, Kessler, Pascall, Taylor, even Abraham all landed flush and only Taylor put him down on accumilation (he also is the only person to ever drop Pavlik)

  5. Oh I dunno about that.. I'm pretty sure Johnnie Walker has dropped Pavlik on his arse a few times.

Agreed, there is no reason to think that Froch is any tougher than Kessler, who hasbeen visibly rocked only once or perhaps twice.

Yeah Froch has a very good chin and it's a good thing that he does as with with his porous defence he needs it to be that good. I would be surprised if he ever gets stopped while in his prime, he's fought some big punchers and taken flush shots off the likes of Taylor, Kessler and Pascal. If those guys couldn't stop him nobody will.

Just like his punching power, his chin gets overrated a lot. Don't get me wrong, it's very good, but it's not "absurd" like this thread claims. Taylor had him down, and Dirrell had him rocked quite a few times, too. He's just operating in a division which doesn't have that many punchers. Granted, Pascal could punch, but that's about it. If a prime Roy Jones was around today, he'd knock Froch down once or twice before stopping him late.

Abraham can punch too, though he couldn't land on Froch. Kessler has a good ko-rate and Direll dropped the presumed rock-solid Abraham. I'd say they aren't without pop in their punches at SMW.

He took Johnsons heavy shots well.

His chin is better than his punching power. The JT fight aside, Froch has at worst looked uncomfortable when taking big shots, rarely ever seriously troubled. His best chin performance was against Pascal.

Abraham didn't really land, which is why I didn't mention him. I've never regarded Kessler as a powerful puncher, despite his KO percentage (against limited opposition, that is). The same goes for Glen, who's not a devestating hitter, either. And yes, Dirrell does have pop in his punches, which is why he managed to rock Froch the few times he did land on him.

And I agree, his best chin performance was against Pascal.

Froch has a good chin. I wish he boxed more from a distance and brawled less toe-to-toe but then again many fans enjoy that.

I'm one of the "many fans" in that regard.
But I have to agree with you it's better for his career and for the rest of his life.
History has shown that a lot of the "go in with no defence, tough cookie fighters" end up with slurring speech and all kinds of other braindamage related trouble at the later half of their careers/life.
Before you know it he's 40+ making incoherent video's at the local Wimpy burgers, calling out whoever is the top dog at the time.
