When he was younger he had such good reflexes he never really took shots flush. Only when he got older and not quite so elusive did he start to get knocked out. I would suggest his punch resistance hasn't declined, more like he can't get out of the way of big shots any more.
Nah, Cleverly would absolutely destroy him. If Cleverly lasted a round with Jones from the late 90's I'd be amazed.
Jones was an absolute sensation in his day. But he is a former champion these days. Nothing more, and I just wish he'd retire.
I find it nigh impossible to pick Jones over any professional fighter these days, the man's chin is non-existant, its just skin there is no bone left in there, anyone connects anything remotley solid and down goes jones, his reflexes are also shot to bits, the guy used to be phenominal but he's far past done now. **** i wish he'd retire
And yet he was fairly competitive against a beast like Lebedev, and lasted ten rounds before getting sparked :think
No way imo. He evaded punches fairly well vs Lebedev and landed a few of his own but his punch output was just tailing off drastically by the end of the fight and he still would have lost a clear decision if it hadn't been for the KO. With his reflexes not allowing him to do what his brain is telling them to do any longer, his style just doesn't bode well with keeping him in with a chance vs the younger men at the top of the division any longer. Not much power, threw punches being thrown and a dodgy chin. It's a shame cos Cleverly would be a sitting duck for a prime RJJ. He wouldn't last as long as Woods did.
